Best Crypto to Buy as SEI Jumps 12%: HYPER Brings Speed & DeFi to BTC

SEI is up 11.56% in the last 24 hours and 17.87% over the past week, trading at $0.071417, thanks to a specific catalyst. On May 20, co-founder Jay Jog confirmed that Sei’s v6.4 upgrade had set a record block time of 0.36 seconds, achieved by reducing work per block and tightening execution and state handling.

At 0.36 seconds, Sei now clears the 400ms threshold for human perception which, the protocol said, means order submission and settlement happens faster than traders can consciously react. Combined with Sei’s instant finality, this makes the order-book design genuinely competitive for high-frequency use cases.

SEI’s success comes despite Bitcoin itself trading at $75,858.38, down 1.09% in 24 hours and 1.70% on the week, and shows how developers and traders are drawn toward networks that can actually process the volume that DeFi demands, and do so at speed.

Elsewhere, more than $32.7 million has been raised by a project that plans to revolutionize Bitcoin itself bringing Solana speeds to Bitcoin with a Layer 2. While Bitcoin can only handle 7-10 transactions per second, Bitcoin Hyper (HYPER) plans to give the largest coin, with a $1.5 trillion market cap, the chance to catch up with Ethereum and Solana in terms of payments and DeFi capabilities. HYPER is currently in presale at $0.01368 and staking at 36% APY.

How Bitcoin Hyper Works: SVM Execution on Bitcoin’s Settlement Layer

Bitcoin Hyper is designed to solve Bitcoin’s core limitations, which stop the OG crypto from being used for payments, in particular the transaction speed bottleneck.

The technical approach integrates the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) above Bitcoin, bringing fast, scalable smart contracts to the Bitcoin ecosystem on a par with ETH, SOL, and similar chains, using a decentralized Canonical Bridge between Bitcoin’s base layer and Bitcoin Hyper’s Layer 2.

Once live, smart contracts (programmed in Rust, familiar to Solana developers) can execute on the L2, while final settlement settles back to Bitcoin L1 – keeping the base layer’s security intact while offloading the speed problem entirely.

Users can deposit BTC into the bridge, transact with near-instant finality on L2 (including DeFi operations like staking and decentralized exchanges), while withdrawing back to native BTC whenever they want to. The Layer 2 state is periodically committed to Bitcoin’s Layer 1, maintaining synchronization and security.

The full list of services the Bitcoin Hyper ecosystem can offer is long, but include high-speed payments, DeFi applications such as swaps, lending, and staking, NFT platforms and gaming dApps.

Why HYPER Could Be the Best Crypto to Buy Before the Mainnet Goes Live

Token listings on centralized exchanges are targeted for 2026, which puts the project’s mainnet launch timeline directly ahead of what is shaping up to be a competitive second half of the year for Bitcoin-native infrastructure. The presale has already cleared $32.7 million, reflecting massive demand to make the idle capital of Bitcoin useful. Early stakers are locking in 36% APY.

The smart contracts have been audited by both Coinsult and SpyWolf, another sign towards launch coming soon. For a presale-stage project, the public-only allocation, dual audits, live staking, and $32.7M raised shows the signs of a mature project ready to explode on to the market.

The market opportunity for the project is hard to overstate, with a global cryptocurrency market cap of $2.6 trillion and Bitcoin dominance at 59%. Bitcoin holds the largest single slice of a multi-trillion dollar market, yet it can’t natively support the DeFi and application layer that has driven Ethereum and Solana’s developer ecosystems for years. Bitcoin Hyper’s addressable market for a functional Bitcoin L2 is larger than anything built on top of Ethereum, simply because Bitcoin’s brand trust and liquidity run deeper.

The Clock Is Running

Sei’s 0.36-second block time is a genuine milestone, and the market reaction, nearly 12% in a single day, shows that performance-level upgrades can move capital.

It also illustrates what the broader market is orienting toward: chains that can actually execute at speed. Bitcoin Hyper is seeking to make this work for the asset with the largest installed base in crypto.
