The strategy of containing Iran's nuclear ambitions has proven to be a complete failure. Insufficient support in keeping the Strait of Hormuz open will have far-reaching consequences for both Europe and the United States. I have always considered myself a strong supporter of alliances, but faced with such a severe test, I can't help but question their value. I believe I'm not the only senator who shares this sentiment."
