Audience groans as vicious Saturday Night Live skit skewers Melania

Melania and Donald Trump were mauled as Saturday Night Live unleashed a battering on last week's speech which reached levels so brutal even the show's live audience groaned.

The comedy show's cold opening laid into Melania's surprise statement denying any connection to convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein that came from out of the blue Thursday.

Melania, portrayed by cast member Chloe Fineman, calls Trump — played by James Austin Johnson — to inform him about her planned bombshell statement.

"I decided I should do a big, random speech completely out of nowhere and say, 'I am not Epstein's victim.' Is that good?" Melania asks SNL's Trump.

"Darling, I gotta admit that sounds a little insane," Trump responds. "Who are you, me?"

Melania proposes additional statements, suggesting she declare that she had "in no way helped" the Gilgo Beach serial killer, the man who admitted last week to killing multiple prostitutes in New York, and that she should announce, "I barely partied with Diddy'? Would that help?"

"I don't know," a visibly concerned Trump replies. "Melania, I'd really love to talk more, but I have a meeting with, uh, Ronald Reagan."

Later in the show, Michael Che cracked a joke so dark his audience audibly groaned.

“First Lady Melania Trump made a rare public statement to deny reports that Jeffrey Epstein introduced her to Donald Trump,” he said. “Because they actually met when Trump cracked open her shipping container."

The real Melania delivered her statement at the White House on Thursday, condemning what she characterized as "lies" about her relationship with Epstein. "I never had a relationship with Epstein or his accomplice, Maxwell," she stated. "My email reply to Maxwell cannot be categorized as anything more than casual correspondence."

She further clarified: "I have never been friends with Epstein. Donald and I were invited to the same parties as Epstein from time to time, since overlapping in social circles is common in New York City and Palm Beach.
