Al Ghurair Development will build a new transit-oriented development (TOD) in Al Jaddaf, overlooking Dubai Creek.
Spanning one million square feet of land across Dubai Creek Harbour, the development will house residential, commercial, cultural and hospitality spaces close to the proposed Etihad Station and the Creek Metro on Dubai Metro’s Green Line.
The company is the real estate development arm of Al Ghurair, a diversified family-owned business in Dubai.
The masterplan is its “largest and most ambitious project to date and a significant step into district-scale development,” it said in a statement.
TOD is an urban development strategy that brings housing, jobs and services into high-density, mixed-use communities within walking distance.
The company has appointed the US-headquartered Pelli Clarke & Partners as the lead masterplan design architect, which will plan a high-density district, including parks and community areas.
The masterplan will be designed to support a five-minute city lifestyle, with daily needs, green spaces, and transit connections all accessible on foot.
“Al Jaddaf sits at the intersection of Dubai Creek and some of the most significant transit infrastructure planned for the city,” said Sultan Al Ghurair, chief executive of Al Ghurair Development.
Al Ghurair Development projects include The Weave in Jumeirah Village Circle, which is currently under construction, Wedyan on Dubai Canal and upcoming residences in Dubai South and Wadi Al Safa 3.
Details of the Al Jaddaf masterplan will be disclosed in due course, the developer said.
In March, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority started work on a “20-minute city” masterplan, awarding the project’s first contract.
