A conservative analyst slammed the evangelical Christians in the Trump administration who seem to care more about "eating scraps from the table" than saving the president's soul after he posted an unseemly photo on his Truth Social account over the weekend.
On Sunday, President Donald Trump posted and then deleted a photo of himself appearing as Jesus Christ healing a sick man in bed. The AI-generated photo featured clear Christian iconography and images of the Statue of Liberty, military soldiers, and the American flag. It was swiftly condemned by some MAGA influencers and Democratic politicians alike as blasphemous.

Erick Erickson, a conservative radio host and former campaign consultant, said during a segment on CNN's "AC360" on Thursday that the religious advisors around Trump dropped the ball in their response.
"They seem to be far more transactional with the president of the United States, and don't really care whether he goes to heaven or hell," Erickson said. "My problem is not with an 80-year-old who acts like he's always acted. It's with the evangelicals who surround the president, who don't seem to want to engage with the president because they would rather get scraps from the table than make sure his soul is actually saved."
"The problem here is these evangelical leaders on the council who watch Paula White the week before Easter say things that no Christian pastor should say in the White House," he added, referring to the Easter event where White compared Trump to Jesus because both men had been persecuted.
