FBI Director could be next one out: Trump plans to fire Kash Patel, according to insider

President Donald Trump is preparing to fire FBI Director Kash Patel following a series of embarrassing gaffes, according to a White House insider cited by Real Clear Politics correspondent Susan Crabtree.

The firing could occur within days, following Trump's recent dismissals of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Crabtree discussed the firing with a source from the White House. The anonymous official criticized the selective accountability and noted, while Patel faces termination, the White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles faces no consequences despite multiple security failures following Saturday's shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

Wiles oversaw the Secret Service on Saturday night.

Patel filed a $250 million defamation lawsuit against The Atlantic in April over reporting detailing his alleged excessive drinking and erratic behavior. Multiple current and former FBI officials cited in The Atlantic's investigation listed Patel's unexplained absences, panic episodes when locked out of FBI systems, and concerning behavior patterns raising questions about his fitness for office.
