President Donald Trump has gotten a lot of bad news about one-time supporters turning against him, and now, the New York Times has spoken with a dozen past Trump voters, revealing why they feel "betrayed," "annoyed" and a whole lot more.

In a piece published Tuesday morning, the Times noted that Trump's "national standing has dipped, especially among independents," despite maintaining roughly 80 percent support from Republicans. To get to the bottom of the decline, it sought out "people who cast their ballots for Mr. Trump and said they were disappointed with his second term," with a few saying they outright regretted their votes. As part of the survey, they asked 12 respondents, Republicans and independents, to fill in a sentence: “I’m feeling ‘blank’ about the country these days.”

One respondent, a 26-year-old independent from Washington named "Franceska," explained why she felt "betrayed" by Trump's second term.

"We were made a lot of promises during the election," she said. "I know that it’s only been a year and a half, but I don’t think I’ve really seen much progress toward even moving toward what he said he was going to do, such as tax breaks or, let’s see, helping with the education system. I feel like he just defunded a lot of the education systems, the schools. I don’t know why he made so many promises."

"Daniel," a 41-year-old independent from California, was pressed about how long he has felt "annoyed" by Trump's return, saying that he was "very disappointed" by his endless parade of scandals.

"Well, living in California, our governor, it’s just all false promises," he explained. "All these additional taxes that are coming out. Money’s not being well spent. Just no accountability whatsoever. And with the current administration, it’s something new every week. DOGE, Venezuela, immigration, Iran. This week, the president’s feuding with the pope. I’m very disappointed. And I served in the military. There’s a reason why I voted for Trump. Usually, Republicans are pro-military. But this whole conflict with Iran is just uncalled for."

"Chris," a 42-year-old Republican from Illinois, said he felt "surprised," explaining that he did not expect things to become so unaffordable under Trump's leadership.

"Life is becoming more and more unaffordable," he said. "The prices of things like gasoline and food overall haven’t come down. I thought it all would just be a lot more affordable."

Chris nevertheless gave Trump's second term the highest grade of all the respondents, a C. Eight others gave his term so far a D, while the remaining three gave him an F.
