Keeley, Mr. Higgins, and Roy in the Season 4 trailer for Ted Lasso.

Apple TV

Ted Lasso’s first teaser for season four suggests the wait will be worth it. The beloved Emmy-winning Apple TV+ comedy picks up more than three years after the lovable football (soccer) coach Ted Lasso took his final bow at AFC Richmond and headed back to Kansas

‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Premiere Date

Apple TV+ dropped the teaser on Tuesday, alongside confirmation that Season 4 will debut on August 5. New episodes will follow weekly every Wednesday, with the season finale scheduled for October 7. All three previous seasons remain available to stream on Apple TV+.

Roy And Keeley Are Back In Each Other’s Orbit

Roy-Keeley nation arise! The trailer’s most talked-about moment arrives early, when Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) and Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) are caught in what appears to be an uncomfy encounter in the halls of Richmond’s facilities, with a visibly awkward Leslie Higgins (Jeremy Swift) caught squarely in the middle.

Later in the footage, the former couple appear again, this time in what looks like a date setting, leaving fans with plenty to speculate about heading into August. The pair ended Season 3 on complicated terms, to say the least, and whether they find their way back to each other is shaping up to be one of the season’s central questions. To be clear, we’re all hoping yes.

Brett Goldstein, hot off of ‘Shrinking’, is back as well.

Ted’s Lasso’s New Challenge: Coaching A Women’s Team

The season’s premise picks up a thread left dangling in the Season 3 finale, when Keeley pitched Rebecca on launching an AFC Richmond women’s team.

Per Apple TV+’s official synopsis, Ted returns to Richmond to take on what the streamer is calling his “biggest challenge yet” — coaching that second division women’s side. The season’s overarching theme, according to the logline, centres on Ted and his new team learning to take “chances they never thought they would”.

Coach Beard, Ted Lasso and Tanya Reynold’s character are the new coaching trio.

True to form, the trailer makes clear that Ted’s return is not universally celebrated. An elderly local — a callback character from earlier seasons — greets him with a characteristic “wanker” upon his arrival back in southwest London, adding one new grievance to the roster: that Ted has returned to coach, as the fan puts it, “a bunch of girls.” Ted, naturally, appears to take it in stride.

Rebecca, Coach Beard And Other Ted Lasso Returnees

Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) appears to be in a good place romantically. The teaser shows her sharing a kiss with her pilot boyfriend Matthijs (Matteo van der Grijn), suggesting their relationship has held steady since Season 3, per TV Insider. Whether her commitment to launching the women’s team introduces new complications remains to be seen.

Keeley and Rebecca’s friendship is stronger than ever, by the way, not least because I would’ve personally written Mr. Cook a strongly worded email in any other situation.

Brendan Hunt’s Coach Beard makes his return as well, as does Phil Dunster as Jamie Tartt, although he is not seen in this first trailer. Fan favourites Baz (Adam Colborne), Paul (Kevin Garry), and Jeremy (Bronson Webb) — AFC Richmond’s most loyal and vocal supporters — appear in the trailer dressed up and attending what looks like a press conference, suggesting the trio’s investment in the club is about to take on a more formal dimension.

Michelle’s Ring Finger And What It Might Mean

Michelle and a recast Henry Lasso are back.

Apple TV

One of the trailer’s more subtle details involves Ted’s estranged wife Michelle (Andrea Anders), who is shown cheering in the stands alongside their son Henry, who has been recast with Grant Feely, best known for playing a young Luke Skywalker in Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi. Season 3 ended with Ted returning home partly to reconcile with her — but TV Insider notes she appears ringless in the footage, a detail that raises obvious questions about where things stand between them.

New Cast Members Joining Ted Lasso

Alongside the returning ensemble, Apple TV+ has confirmed several new additions: Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, and Abbie Hern, per Deadline and Today. Their specific roles have not yet been disclosed, although Tanya Reynolds seems the counterpart to Nick Mohammed’s Nathan Shelley from previous seasons.

Ted Lasso Season 4 premieres August 5, 2026, on Apple TV+.
