Romantic comedy movie ‘Call of My Life’ has grossed N76.5 million in its first weekend at the Nigerian Cinemas. The development has again shown Nigeria’s love for romantic movies.

According to a Monday post by the NBO, ‘Call of My Life’ opened with N76.5 million and has now grossed a total of N78.2 million over the May 15-17 weekend.

For the first time over the past four weeks, Michael Jackson’s biopic ‘Michael’ dropped to second in weekend grossing numbers with N60.5 million (N554.3 million cumulative). With this, analysts have tipped the movie to lead the NBO grossing numbers for the next few weeks after defeating Michael in its opening weekend.

More on ‘Call of My Life’

Directed by Dammy Twitch, ‘Call of My Life’ started screening in Nigerian cinemas on May 15, 2026.

Call of my life Kalu and Soluchi

The romantic movie is the first feature film by Dammy Twitch, who has directed videos for leading musicians such as Davido and other top brands. In 2023, he directed ‘I Hate It Here,’ a short drama about domestic violence

My life has been shaped by love, so choosing a romance story for my first film was instinctive. As it’s my first step into feature filmmaking, I wanted it to reflect my heart. And my heart has always been rooted in love and happiness. I hope the movie finds a place in everyone’s heart,” Twitch said when the first trailer was released in February.

Soluchi is the main character in ‘Call Of My Life’. She is a call centre worker in Nigeria. Her ex-boyfriend, Kalu, left her at the altar, so she is heartbroken and scared of love. Kalu is played by Zubby Michael.

Soluchi believes in true love, but her past makes her careful. One day at work, she talks to Eli (Andrew Bunting) on the phone, who is charming and kind. They started as customer and agent, but soon flirted and eventually met. Soluchi got entangled as she fights between her fears and old memories.

In the end, Soluchi picks Eli, and they fall in love for real after learning to trust her heart. This romantic comedy piece is hopeful for people who have lost faith in relationships.

Reacting to the movie, Producer Blessing Uzzi explained her decision to back the project:

“It was important for me to produce Call of My Life to show the range of stories Bluhouse Studios can tell. After Freedom Way, I wanted to explore something softer but equally meaningful. At a time when many feel jaded about love, I wanted to create a film that is hopeful and uplifting, a story that reminds us to believe in love again.”

Made by Bluhouse Studios, the movie was shot in Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu.
