Crypto Betting vs. Fiat: Why 2025 Belongs to Web3 Sportsbooks

The online betting industry is undergoing a major shift. For years, fiat payments—dollars, euros, pounds—were the unquestioned standard. But now, cryptocurrencies are firmly in the game. In 2025, the question is no longer if crypto betting matters, but how far it has come compared to fiat.

Fiat vs. Crypto: The Basics

Fiat betting works through the traditional banking system. Players deposit with a card, e-wallet, or wire transfer, and withdrawals go back the same way. It’s familiar and regulated, but often slow and costly.

Crypto betting bypasses banks entirely. Transactions happen on blockchains like Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Solana. Instead of entering card details, players send funds directly from a wallet. This makes the process faster and often cheaper, but it comes with unique risks like price volatility and the need for basic crypto knowledge.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Fiat betting offers stability and simplicity. A $100 win stays $100, without worrying about market swings. Regulations add another layer of security, giving players some protection if disputes arise. The trade-off is speed: withdrawals can take days, and fees pile up quickly, especially across borders. Privacy is also limited, since banks and operators require full identity checks.

Crypto betting flips the script. Transactions are usually confirmed within minutes, with little to no intermediary costs. Privacy is stronger—many platforms only need a wallet address—and access is global. A player in a country where gambling payments are blocked can still participate.

Besides, crypto betting removes the middlemen. Payments move directly on the blockchain—Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, stablecoins, and beyond. That means instant access, and fewer fees.

Why Crypto Is Growing Faster in 2025

While fiat betting still has the largest user base, crypto is catching up quickly. Younger bettors, esports fans, and players in restricted regions are driving the shift. Stablecoins in particular—like USDT and USDC—have made the transition easier, offering the speed and borderless nature of crypto without the price swings.

Industry surveys show that over 40% of online betting platforms now support crypto payments, but most of them are still fiat-first. They “accept crypto” rather than being built for it. Lately, crypto-native sportsbooks have been gaining popularity, and Dexsport is one of them.

Dexsport: A True Web3 Sportsbook and Casino

Unlike traditional platforms that bolt on crypto payments as an afterthought, Dexsport.io is crypto-native by design. Registration takes seconds—via email, Telegram, or a DeFi wallet like MetaMask or Trust Wallet. No KYC hoops, no waiting for approval. You’re instantly in

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
