On Thursday, October 16, Lumera Protocol, an AI-first Layer-1 blockchain, announced the launch of Cascade, a data storage protocol for AI data. According to Lumera, Cascade is built with redundancy, permanence, and availability in mind. Moreover, Cascade will enable users to pay once and store data forever, which is novel compared with other blockchains for data storage. Cascade works by breaking down uploaded files into small, overlapping pieces. It then copies and distributes these pieces to SuperNodes that store them. The network also ensures sufficient redundancy in case some nodes go offline. “If a node goes offline or loses data, Cascade’s self-healing system automatically restores the missing pieces from other nodes. This process ensures one simple guarantee: pay once, store forever,” Lumera wrote. According to Lumera, it will enable users to tap into its decentralized infrastructure for AI and data storage. “The Lumera Hub is designed to make our ecosystem accessible to both developers and end users, while Cascade represents a new standard for permanent storage,” said Anthony Georgiades, Co-Founder of Lumera Protocol. “We’re building infrastructure that is simple, resilient, and censorship-resistant. It is designed to last as long as the data itself.” The decentralized storage module, Cascade, will be available through the Hub’s interface, enabling users to store and access files via its unified dashboard.… The post Lumera launches permanent, decentralized storage for AI data appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. AI-focused blockchain Lumera Protocol unveiled Cascade, a permanent decentralized storage module for AI data.

Summary

  • Lumera Protocol launches a data storage protocol for AI
  • The data storage module keeps data overlapping across SuperNodes, ensuring redundancy
  • The AI-focused blockchain also launched the Lumera Hub dashboard

As AI models grow more complex and data-hungry, the question of data storage is increasingly pressing.

Lumera launches Hub to access AI storage

Alongside Cascade, the project also launched Lumera Hub, a user and developer interface for its entire ecosystem. According to Lumera, it will enable users to tap into its decentralized infrastructure for AI and data storage.

The decentralized storage module, Cascade, will be available through the Hub’s interface, enabling users to store and access files via its unified dashboard.

UK crypto holders brace for FCA’s expanded regulatory reach

The post UK crypto holders brace for FCA’s expanded regulatory reach appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. British crypto holders may soon face a very different landscape as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) moves to expand its regulatory reach in the industry. A new consultation paper outlines how the watchdog intends to apply its rulebook to crypto firms, shaping everything from asset safeguarding to trading platform operation. According to the financial regulator, these proposals would translate into clearer protections for retail investors and stricter oversight of crypto firms. UK FCA plans Until now, UK crypto users mostly encountered the FCA through rules on promotions and anti-money laundering checks. The consultation paper goes much further. It proposes direct oversight of stablecoin issuers, custodians, and crypto-asset trading platforms (CATPs). For investors, that means the wallets, exchanges, and coins they rely on could soon be subject to the same governance and resilience standards as traditional financial institutions. The regulator has also clarified that firms need official authorization before serving customers. This condition should, in theory, reduce the risk of sudden platform failures or unclear accountability. David Geale, the FCA’s executive director of payments and digital finance, said the proposals are designed to strike a balance between innovation and protection. He explained: “We want to develop a sustainable and competitive crypto sector – balancing innovation, market integrity and trust.” Geale noted that while the rules will not eliminate investment risks, they will create consistent standards, helping consumers understand what to expect from registered firms. Why does this matter for crypto holders? The UK regulatory framework shift would provide safer custody of assets, better disclosure of risks, and clearer recourse if something goes wrong. However, the regulator was also frank in its submission, arguing that no rulebook can eliminate the volatility or inherent risks of holding digital assets. Instead, the focus is on ensuring that when consumers choose to invest, they do…
