Celebrity Halloween costumes tend to be stunningly elaborate, a display of wealth and craftsmanship, but the Kardashians chose something simpler this year, inspired by TikTok.

In a pre-Halloween social media blitz, the Kardashians posted five videos of their costumes on Kim and North West’s shared TikTok account, revealing that Kim, North, and Kris Jenner dressed up as Jay Guapõ, his younger brother Pink Cardigan, and their mother, Chrissy G.

The internet reacted with surprise to the unexpected crossover, as the two families inhabit very different worlds.

Who Is Jay Guapõ?

Jay Guapõ is a social media star who skyrocketed to fame after several years of dedicated posting, becoming famous on TikTok for his pranks, dances, and fiery confrontations with Chrissy G.

Many of Guapõ’s posts are best described as “vibe edits,” with the TikToker roaming the streets of New York with his friends and family, colored by flickering lens flare filters, grooving to the tune of his signature song, a remix of Kesha’s “Die Young.”

In sharp contrast to the Kardashians, who are often labelled “Nepo Babies,” Guapõ hails from a working class background.

Guapõ was raised in the Bronx and ascended to celebrity through perseverance, charisma and a penchant for posting raw, unpolished glimpses into his world.

While Guapõ has been posting on YouTube since he was 14, his content began to go viral after migrating to TikTok in 2020, and the last year has seen the social media star explode in fame.

Now, Guapõ struggles to walk down the streets of New York without being mobbed by fans.

Guapõ has become something of a fashion icon, and his signature outfit—an oversized cardigan and tight leggings—ensure that the TikTok star is distinctive enough to inspire a Halloween costume.

Guapõ seemed surprised to see media behemoths like the Kardashians dress up as him for Halloween and reposted the TikTok with the caption, “Nah chat we made ittttt.”

Why Did The Kardashians Dress As Jake Guapõ And His Family?

As Kim Kardashian explained in a TikTok comment, “North put me on,” revealing that her daughter was the driving force behind this specific costume.

However, the Kardashians are known to be an extremely media-savvy bunch, and their costume is an interesting snapshot of cultural cross-pollination, with Guapõ fans and Kardashian fans both expressing their excitement in the comments of the video.

Guapõ was correct to view the Kardashian’s costume as proof of his rising stardom, as the Kardashian clan stand to gain significant social media clout with younger social media users by referencing him.

Influencers like Guapõ are the rising stars of the current era, while the Kardashian’s iron grip over the pop culture landscape is destined to fade, eventually.

Guapõ and other TikTokers, such as viral food critic Keith Lee, are far more relatable and down-to-earth than the typical Hollywood A-lister, inhabiting a different universe, far from the cavernous, spotless mansions of the Kardashians.

We‘re sure to see more crossovers between established media personalities and up-and-coming viral stars, as the pop culture landscape adjusts to shifting tastes.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
