Billie Eilish only has a few weeks left on her Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour before it wraps up. The hugely successful concert trek supports her 2024 album Hit Me Hard and Soft, her third full-length. The set was another major commercial success for the young singer-songwriter, and even more than a year after its release, Eilish is still promoting one final single from its tracklist.

“Wildflower,” which was selected as the fourth promotional cut back in February – after even bigger smashes like “Lunch” and “Birds of a Feather” – remains her current focus. As the single finds space on the Hot 100 once more, Eilish advances yet again on a longevity roster, making history with one of the sturdiest hits of all time by any female artist.

“Wildflower” Reaches a Historic Milestone on the Hot 100

As of this frame, “Wildflower” has now lived on the Hot 100 for 71 weeks. The cut improves slightly, lifting from No. 50 to No. 47 this time around. Despite its longevity, the single has never cracked the top 10, like several other tunes from Hit Me Hard and Soft managed to. Instead, it peaked at No. 17, but for months it has demonstrated remarkable staying power.

Billie Eilish Passes SZA in the Historic Books

At 71 weeks, “Wildflower” stands alone as the song by a female solo artist with the second-most weeks on the Hot 100. Just days ago, Eilish was tied with SZA, whose “Snooze” appeared on the chart between 2022 and 2024, holding on for 70 frames. Now, Eilish has surpassed SZA, pushing “Snooze” into third place on the all-time list.

What Songs by Women Have Spent the Most Time on the Hot 100?

Only one song credited to a woman has spent more time on the Hot 100, and it’s Dua Lipa’s “Levitating.” That smash racked up 77 weeks on the chart between 2020 and 2022. About half of those frames are credited solely to Lipa, while for several months, the version featuring a verse by hip-hop superstar DaBaby was the one Americans were streaming and purchasing most, though Lipa favored the solo take after he made controversial remarks about the LGBTQ community.

What are the 10 Longest-Running Hot 100 Hits?

“Wildflower” is the tenth-longest-running hit in Hot 100 history when songs by male acts and groups are included. Teddy Swims reset the all-time record over and over again with “Lose Control,” which spent a staggering 112 weeks on the chart before being removed after Billboard revised its rules about when a track goes recurrent. Those alterations dictate how long a title can remain on the tally once it dips below a certain threshold, and the change also affected Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things.” That breakout pop cut, which helped introduce Boone to the mainstream, stands as the fourth-longest-charting song in Hot 100 history with 89 weeks to its name.

Also sitting ahead of Eilish’s “Wildflower” are smashes like “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals, “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd, and “Radioactive” and “Demons” by Imagine Dragons, among a few others.

“Wildflower” Nears Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” Record

“Wildflower” needs to hold on for roughly another month to tie its next closest competitor. Jason Mraz made history when “I’m Yours” lived on the Hot 100 for 76 weeks more than a decade ago. His feat was even more impressive in the pre-streaming era, when songs rarely held on that long. His record stood as one of the greatest chart achievements for years before streaming dramatically reshaped how the Hot 100 is compiled, allowing popular tracks to enjoy even longer stays.

Billie Eilish’s “Wildflower” Lives Near the top of Billboard’s Rock and Alternative Charts

“Wildflower” currently lives on 10 different Billboard charts, and its lowest position is on the Hot 100. The track can be found across numerous rock and alternative tallies, including the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, Hot Rock Songs, and Hot Alternative Songs charts — all of which list the track inside the top 10. Eilish’s latest focus single also holds steady at its all-time peak of No. 12 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart, sitting just below the top 10.

To read more editions, subscribe “The most valuable commodity I know of is information.” — Gordon Gekko, Wall Street Ten months ago, FBI agents raided Shayne Coplan’s Manhattan apartment, ostensibly in search of evidence that the prediction market he founded, Polymarket, had illegally allowed US residents to place bets on the US election. Two weeks ago, the CFTC gave Polymarket the green light to allow those very same US residents to place bets on whatever they like. This is quite the turn of events — and it’s not just about elections or politics. With its US government seal of approval in hand, Polymarket is reportedly raising capital at a valuation of $9 billion — a reflection of the growing belief that prediction markets will be used for much more than betting on elections once every four years. Instead, proponents say prediction markets can provide a real service to the world by providing it with better information about nearly everything. I think they might, too — but only if insiders are free to participate. Yesterday, for example, Polymarket announced new betting markets on company earnings reports, with a promise that it would improve the information that investors have to work with.  Instead of waiting three months to find out how a company is faring, investors could simply watch the odds on Polymarket.  If the probability of an earnings beat is rising, for example, investors would know at a glance that things are going well. But that will only happen if enough of the people betting actually know how things are going. Relying on the wisdom of crowds to magically discern how a business is doing won’t add much incremental knowledge to the world; everyone’s guesses are unlikely to average out to the truth. If…
