The series debuted in May 2024 and became Prime Video’s most-watched international original of all time, reaching No. 1 on the streamer’s charts in more than 120 countries, according to Prime Video. After its immediate success, the platform swiftly renewed the German-language series for a second season, pleasing fans around the world.
Maxton Hall follows Ruby Bell (Harriet Herbig-Matten), a scholarship student at the prestigious boarding school Maxton Hall, who dreams of attending Oxford. When Ruby discovers that her classmate Lydia is having an affair with a teacher, Mr. Sutton, she becomes entangled in a romance with James Beaufort (Damian Hardung), Lydia’s wealthy older brother and heir to the family’s massive fortune.
The sophomore season is based on Save You, the second installment of Mona Kasten’s bestselling novel series. It picks up after (spoiler alert) the devastating ending of Season 1, which included the death of James and Lydia’s mother from a stroke.
“After a painful betrayal, Ruby is left facing the ruins of her relationship with James,” the synopsis for Season 2 teases. “She only wants one thing: her old life back, when she was invisible at Maxton Hall. While she tries to suppress her feelings, the remorseful James does everything he can to win her heart back – whatever the cost.”
