The Multi-Chain Nightmare
Imagine this: You’ve built an incredible dApp that needs to deploy across 15 different blockchain networks. Each chain has its own:
- RPC endpoints with varying reliability
- Gas price calculations and optimization strategies
- Verification processes and timing requirements
- Confirmation times and security considerations
What was once a simple truffle migrate or hardhat deploy has become a logistical nightmare. We found ourselves maintaining separate deployment scripts, configuration files, and monitoring systems for each network. The complexity was growing exponentially with each new chain we supported.
The Breaking Point
Our team reached a breaking point when we had to coordinate a deployment across 8 networks simultaneously. The process looked something like:
- Manual RPC selection for each chain
- Gas price monitoring and manual adjustments
- Sequential deployment causing hours of delays
- Verification failures on some chains but not others
