Doja Cat Ties Two Of The Most Successful Women Of All Time With A New No. 1

Doja Cat’s latest album Vie is shockingly less than two months old. It might seem older, as it has disappeared from the charts, though not every trace of it is gone.

The singer and rapper delivered the project in late September, seemingly dropping it just before Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl took over the Billboard charts. Vie received warm reviews from critics, and fans seemed to enjoy the project.

While the album opened inside the top five on the Billboard 200, it has not turned out to be Doja’s most successful release. The Grammy winner is still promoting the full-length with lead single “Jealous Type,” which arrived this summer and this frame not only earns the superstar a new No. 1 in America, but helps her tie some of the most successful women in music history.

Looking solely at female artists, Beyoncé, Minaj, and Doja trail behind only Rihanna. She sits in a distant first place with her 17 No. 1s on the Rhythmic Airplay chart.

The same tune holds at its high-best placement of No. 9 on the Pop Airplay ranking while also turning around and ascending slightly on the Hot 100.

Vie Disappears as Planet Her Nears a Career Milestone

While “Jealous Type” is still earning plenty of love on the airwaves, Vie has vanished completely from the Billboard charts. Interestingly, Doja’s Planet Her, which features many of her most famous tracks – such as “Kiss Me More,” “You Right,” “Need to Know,” and “Woman” – remains present. Planet Her drops more than 20 spaces on the Billboard 200, dipping to No. 181. If it can hold on for one more frame, Planet Her will reach four full years on the ranking of the most consumed albums and EPs in America.
