The Philippines is drowning in disasters. What are world leaders doing about this problem?
Stronger storms are caused by climate change, a global crisis that countries discuss annually during the Conference of the Parties (COP) or United Nations Climate Change Conference.
But this year’s climate negotiations — the world’s 30th — turned out to be a disappointment, according to climate activists and think tanks. At home, advocates also called out the Philippines’ delegation to COP30 for their “deafening” silence.
