MANILA, Philippines – A coalition of reform-minded dynasts, academics, and public servants has launched a campaign for an anti-dynasty law in the wake of the flood control corruption scandal.
Among the members of the Anti-Dynasty Network is lawyer Michaela “Mikee” Defensor, daughter of former Anakalusugan representative Mike Defensor.
Just days after the coalition went public, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. urged Congress leaders to prioritize the bill’s passage. But how close is the House bill to what the coalition wants?
In this Rappler Talk episode, multimedia reporter Patrick Cruz speaks with Defensor on their campaign to end political dynasties, and what they hope to achieve.
