Wrapped XRP to debut on Solana; Here’s how XRP price reacted

2025/12/12 18:29

Hex Trust, a regulated institutional asset custodian, announced on December 12 that it would issue wrapped XRP (wXRP) on Solana (SOL), among other networks, including Ethereum (ETH).

A fully collateralized version of the native token built for use beyond the XRP Ledger (XRPL), wrapped XRP can be redeemed 1:1 for XRP at any time. The rollout is set to begin with more than $100 million in value locked, giving traders and institutions immediate liquidity from day one.

Despite the bullish implications of the launch, however, XRP price is yet to show any noticeable reaction, up only 0.84% on the daily chart at the time of writing after a relatively disappointing past week that led to a 1.26% price drop. Still, the cryptocurrency is again trading at $2.03, above the psychological $2 level which it fell below yesterday.

The reason for the cautious optimism is hard to pinpoint. However, it is possible that while cross-chain expansion could help boost demand by introducing XRP to a growing decentralized finance (DeFi) network, the current dominance of Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin on Ethereum raises the risk that XRP’s native utility could become overshadowed within its own ecosystem.

Given that the initiative reflects rising institutional appetite to deploy both XRP and RLUSD across a broader range of crypto platforms, any long-term impact may hinge on whether meaningful liquidity actually migrates back to the XRP Ledger.

Indeed, while XRP was one of crypto’s earliest attempts at building a universal settlement layer, the asset has largely remained confined to the XRP Ledger. The situation is now changing, but judging by the muted price action, wXRP’s debut on new chains could be an important strategic step toward greater utility rather than an immediate price catalyst.

The post UK Looks to US to Adopt More Crypto-Friendly Approach appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The UK and US are reportedly preparing to deepen cooperation on digital assets, with Britain looking to copy the Trump administration’s crypto-friendly stance in a bid to boost innovation.  UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent discussed on Tuesday how the two nations could strengthen their coordination on crypto, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.  The discussions also involved representatives from crypto companies, including Coinbase, Circle Internet Group and Ripple, with executives from the Bank of America, Barclays and Citi also attending, according to the report. The agreement was made “last-minute” after crypto advocacy groups urged the UK government on Thursday to adopt a more open stance toward the industry, claiming its cautious approach to the sector has left the country lagging in innovation and policy.  Source: Rachel Reeves Deal to include stablecoins, look to unlock adoption Any deal between the countries is likely to include stablecoins, the Financial Times reported, an area of crypto that US President Donald Trump made a policy priority and in which his family has significant business interests. The Financial Times reported on Monday that UK crypto advocacy groups also slammed the Bank of England’s proposal to limit individual stablecoin holdings to between 10,000 British pounds ($13,650) and 20,000 pounds ($27,300), claiming it would be difficult and expensive to implement. UK banks appear to have slowed adoption too, with around 40% of 2,000 recently surveyed crypto investors saying that their banks had either blocked or delayed a payment to a crypto provider.  Many of these actions have been linked to concerns over volatility, fraud and scams. The UK has made some progress on crypto regulation recently, proposing a framework in May that would see crypto exchanges, dealers, and agents treated similarly to traditional finance firms, with…
