New offering equips essential service providers with predictive intelligence and AI-powered workflows to accelerate storm and wildfire response

VIENNA, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Everbridge, Inc., the global leader in High Velocity Critical Event Management (CEM) and national public warning solutions, in collaboration with ServiceNow and Ekatra, today announced Emergency Event Management (EEM), a new solution built for critical infrastructure organizations that need faster and more coordinated response during storms, wildfires, and other emergency events. EEM brings together predictive intelligence, automated actions, and field coordination in one system designed to protect people, assets, and service uptime. This is the first in a series of offerings planned under the new partnership.

EEM connects Everbridge High Velocity CEM with the ServiceNow AI Platform to help organizations such as electric, gas, and water utilities spot problems earlier, launch response plans quickly, assign crews, and keep customers informed.

“Today, organizations supporting critical infrastructure services are forced to manage emergency responses across a slew of disconnected systems – critical interventions and remediations often take days to resolve. EEM changes that equation entirely,” said Holly Briedis, SVP, Global Industries & Solutions at ServiceNow. “By bringing together Everbridge’s predictive intelligence with Ekatra’s AI innovation and ServiceNow’s workflow automation, we’re unlocking capabilities across three industry leaders that simply don’t exist in today’s landscape. We’re talking about compressing multi-day coordination efforts into minutes or hours, helping organizations make faster, smarter decisions to restore service when their communities need them most.”

What EEM Delivers

  • Earlier awareness: AI reviews weather, asset, and operational data to flag emerging risks.
  • Faster action: Automated workflows start restoration steps and crew assignments without delay.
  • Safer field operations: Integrated routing and mobile updates help crews work efficiently in tough conditions.
  • Clear communication: EEM prepares updates for customers, regulators, and internal teams.
  • Continuous improvement: After each event, EEM captures lessons to strengthen future readiness.

“Storms and wildfires are creating new urgency for infrastructure operators to restore service quickly and communicate clearly,” said Dave Wagner, CEO of Everbridge. “EEM brings predictive intelligence and automated response together in one integrated workflow, helping teams act faster, keep customers informed, and strengthen resilience across their operations.”

EEM integrates with utility systems such as SCADA, AMI, GIS, and IoT to predict outages, automate key steps, and coordinate information across operations and the field. As part of the new partnership, Everbridge, Ekatra, and ServiceNow will extend EEM to other industries in 2026, including Transportation and Logistics, and State and Local Government.

In addition to EEM, Everbridge recently introduced the Everbridge xMatters and ServiceNow connector. The integration allows ServiceNow to serve as the system of record and xMatters as the system of recovery, combining AI-powered detection with automated communication and remediation. Together, these capabilities help organizations identify, prioritize, and resolve incidents more quickly across IT, operations, and physical environments, strengthening enterprise resilience through deeper automation and interoperability.

Cashing In On University Patents Means Giving Up On Our Innovation Future

Cashing In On University Patents Means Giving Up On Our Innovation Future

The post Cashing In On University Patents Means Giving Up On Our Innovation Future appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. “It’s a raid on American innovation that would deliver pennies to the Treasury while kneecapping the very engine of our economic and medical progress,” writes Pipes. Getty Images Washington is addicted to taxing success. Now, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is floating a plan to skim half the patent earnings from inventions developed at universities with federal funding. It’s being sold as a way to shore up programs like Social Security. In reality, it’s a raid on American innovation that would deliver pennies to the Treasury while kneecapping the very engine of our economic and medical progress. Yes, taxpayer dollars support early-stage research. But the real payoff comes later—in the jobs created, cures discovered, and industries launched when universities and private industry turn those discoveries into real products. By comparison, the sums at stake in patent licensing are trivial. Universities collectively earn only about $3.6 billion annually in patent income—less than the federal government spends on Social Security in a single day. Even confiscating half would barely register against a $6 trillion federal budget. And yet the damage from such a policy would be anything but trivial. The true return on taxpayer investment isn’t in licensing checks sent to Washington, but in the downstream economic activity that federally supported research unleashes. Thanks to the bipartisan Bayh-Dole Act of 1980, universities and private industry have powerful incentives to translate early-stage discoveries into real-world products. Before Bayh-Dole, the government hoarded patents from federally funded research, and fewer than 5% were ever licensed. Once universities could own and license their own inventions, innovation exploded. The result has been one of the best returns on investment in government history. Since 1996, university research has added nearly $2 trillion to U.S. industrial output, supported 6.5 million jobs, and launched more than 19,000 startups. Those companies pay…
