Busan Unveils Ambitious Tourism Overhaul to Capture Global Market

Busan is rolling out a comprehensive strategy to significantly boost its appeal to international travelers. The coastal city has launched a diverse array of new tourism products and initiatives, aiming to attract a record number of visitors and solidify its position as a premier global destination. These efforts include expanded tour packages, innovative culinary promotions, and a highly successful all-in-one tourist pass.

Diverse Tourism Offerings

Busan, in collaboration with the Busan Tourism Organization (BTO), has launched 49 distinct tourism products designed to cater to the varied interests of international visitors. These offerings encompass 10 one-day tours, 14 customized theme packages, and 25 regional courses that extend to Ulsan and Gyeongsangnam-do Province. The one-day tours are designed for efficiency and convenience, utilizing buses and vans to cover popular routes, including connections to Pohang and Gyeongju. The customized theme products are specifically developed to align with the preferences and tastes of foreign tourists.

Culinary Delights and Targeted Promotions

The city has successfully leveraged its reputation as a culinary hub, with “dwaeji gukbap” (pork soup over rice) proving particularly popular among Taiwanese visitors. Promotions featuring this dish, including an in-flight meal service on Tigerair Taiwan flights, have contributed to a substantial increase in arrivals from Taiwan. Surveys indicate that “dwaeji gukbap” is a favorite Korean dish for many international visitors, resonating with its comforting and familiar flavors. Other new programs like “temple trekking” and the “Starry Sea Busan Night Festa” are also enhancing the city’s diverse appeal.

The Success of the Visit Busan Pass

The Visit Busan Pass, an integrated ticket offering access to attractions, public transportation, and exclusive discounts, has become a vital tool for exploring the city. Since its launch in February 2023, the pass has sold over 370,000 units. It provides entry to 39 popular destinations, including Haeundae Blueline Park, Songdo Sea Cable Car, and Busan X the Sky Observatory. Additionally, passholders benefit from discounts at 172 affiliated businesses and can access various experiences like cooking classes and yacht tours. The pass is available in time-based and quantity-based options, catering to different travel styles and durations.

Local Nightlife Discovery Beyond Official Tourism Programs

While Busan’s tourism initiatives focus on structured experiences and official attractions, many visitors naturally explore the city beyond daytime schedules once the sun goes down. For nightlife, late dining, and neighborhood-level entertainment, travelers often turn to local information platforms such as Budal to understand how residents navigate the city after hours.

Rather than curated tour products, platforms like Budal reflect real-time activity across districts, offering insight into where people actually gather at night. This layer of local discovery complements Busan’s formal tourism strategy, helping visitors experience the city not only as a destination, but as a living urban environment that continues to evolve after dark.

Enhancing Maritime Experiences

Busan is also set to enhance its maritime tourism with the introduction of a new marine taxi service. This initiative will connect key coastal attractions such as Gwangalli, Suyeong River, and Haeundae using eco-friendly boats. The service aims to transform travel into a scenic experience, offering panoramic views of the city’s skyline and coastline. Scheduled for trial operations in early 2026, the marine taxi is expected to complement existing transport options and draw more visitors to waterfront areas, further boosting local businesses and Busan’s image as a leading maritime city.

Tourism Growth and Future Outlook

Busan has witnessed a significant increase in foreign tourist arrivals, surpassing 2 million by July and showing a 23 percent increase compared to the previous year. The city is on track to meet its goal of 3 million foreign visitors by the end of 2025. Officials attribute this growth to increased global visibility, successful targeted promotions, and the comprehensive tourism initiatives being implemented. With upcoming events like the Busan International Film Festival, the city anticipates continued growth and remains committed to developing new programs to attract a wider range of international travelers.

A Netflix ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Short Film Has Been Rated For Release

The post A Netflix ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Short Film Has Been Rated For Release appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. KPop Demon Hunters Netflix Everyone has wondered what may be the next step for KPop Demon Hunters as an IP, given its record-breaking success on Netflix. Now, the answer may be something exactly no one predicted. According to a new filing with the MPA, something called Debut: A KPop Demon Hunters Story has been rated PG by the ratings body. It’s listed alongside some other films, and this is obviously something that has not been publicly announced. A short film could be well, very short, a few minutes, and likely no more than ten. Even that might be pushing it. Using say, Pixar shorts as a reference, most are between 4 and 8 minutes. The original movie is an hour and 36 minutes. The “Debut” in the title indicates some sort of flashback, perhaps to when HUNTR/X first arrived on the scene before they blew up. Previously, director Maggie Kang has commented about how there were more backstory components that were supposed to be in the film that were cut, but hinted those could be explored in a sequel. But perhaps some may be put into a short here. I very much doubt those scenes were fully produced and simply cut, but perhaps they were finished up for this short film here. When would Debut: KPop Demon Hunters theoretically arrive? I’m not sure the other films on the list are much help. Dead of Winter is out in less than two weeks. Mother Mary does not have a release date. Ne Zha 2 came out earlier this year. I’ve only seen news stories saying The Perfect Gamble was supposed to come out in Q1 2025, but I’ve seen no evidence that it actually has. KPop Demon Hunters Netflix It could be sooner rather than later as Netflix looks to capitalize…
