The cryptocurrency known as Dogecoin started out as the meme ‘Doge’ but is now a legitimate digital currency backed by a very large community and currently ranks among the top five cryptocurrencies most actively traded on the Internet. At press time, the coin is trading at $0.1184 with a 4.42% over the past 24 hours.
According to the TradingView chart, the DOGE price at the beginning of January 2025 was approximately $0.32, although throughout the first year of trading, the price had experienced a significant number of short-lived moves upward prior to trending downwards throughout the remainder of the calendar year.
The current Doge price remains around $0.12 now and is very close to the lowest price point reached in the last year. After investing ₹15,000 ($180) into Dogecoin at the start of January 2025, a trader’s purchase of approximately 560 DOGE would now be valued at approximately ₹5,600 to ₹5,700 (£63 to £63) – indicating a loss of approximately 60% from the original investment amount.
This illustrates the fact that extended periods of weakness and volume can severely diminish the overall value of the coin, regardless of the potential short-term upside movement.

According to the recent update on X by dogegod, Dogecoin’s codebase is still being actively maintained, and they are working to improve RPC optimization, add security patches, and create better documentation to reduce the barrier for developers and help maintain network sustainability.
The updates that were made to the coin do not have an impact on its current price, but they do indicate that Doge does not appear to be a dormant or abandoned blockchain; it is still developing.
The price behaviour of Dogecoin (DOGE) in 2025 indicates that there is a lot of short-term market pressure, and that no serious issues exist with the fundamentals of the coin.
Volatility and continued development of the cryptocurrency have a positive effect on the long-term stability of the network, while the DOGE coin may soon enter into another market cycle.
Therefore, disciplined timing and risk management will be critical when investing in highly volatile markets like those currently associated with Dogecoin and other cryptocurrencies.
