CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Westinghouse Electric Company announced the appointment of Justin Johnson as executive vice president and Chief Legal Officer. He takes over the role following the announced retirement of Michael Sweeney.

In this position, Mr. Johnson will be responsible for overseeing all legal and compliance operations for the company’s global businesses. He will join the executive leadership team reporting to Westinghouse Interim Chief Executive Officer Dan Sumner.

“We are pleased to welcome Justin to Westinghouse,” said Dan Sumner, Interim Chief Executive Officer, Westinghouse. “He brings a unique set of skills to navigate the company’s dynamic legal landscape and commercial transactions, engage with our talented teams and support success for our owners and customers.”

Mr. Johnson comes to Westinghouse from Jacobs, where he worked for more than eight years in roles of successive advancement within the Legal function. Most recently, he served as executive vice president, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary – leading a team of legal and insurance professionals to support the company’s global operations, while working closely with senior management and its board of directors. Previously, he served as senior counsel of Vistra Energy, a Fortune 500 integrated retail and power generation company, and held positions at the law firms of Hogan Lovells, Kaye Scholer (now Arnold & Porter) and Sullivan & Cromwell.

Mr. Johnson earned his J.D. from Stanford Law School, and a B.A. in Government from Dartmouth College.

After more than 20 years at Westinghouse and 15 years as the company’s chief legal officer, Michael Sweeney has elected to retire. He will provide advisory support in 2026 across a series of strategic growth projects. “Mike’s expertise and trusted counsel for our global businesses have been essential to positioning Westinghouse on a firm foundation of growth. We are grateful for his leadership and commitment to our company and our employees during his impressive career.”
