PANews reported on January 14th that, according to Decrypt, Google has filed a motion in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to dismiss Penske Media's antitrust lawsuit against its AI search overviews. Google argues that AI Overviews are a legitimate product improvement, and media outlets can choose not to index them, thus it does not constitute coercion. This is Google's third request to dismiss the lawsuit; if dismissed, the case may proceed to a broader AI and platform power antitrust hearing.
