Metal Detector Company Announces New Technology Development Platform

GARLAND, Texas, Jan. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Texas-based Garrett Metal Detectors announced yesterday that its Paragon™ walk-through metal detector is the first host for software engineered using Clarity™, Garrett’s new AI-enhanced technology development platform.

Clarity is a proprietary deep learning-based development platform that has already been used to improve detection and indication for Garrett’s Paragon walk-through metal detector. In 2026, developments from Clarity are expected to further enhance the detection capabilities of both new and existing Garrett security products.

Clarity is a statement about Garrett’s commitment to innovation,” said Aaron Arellano, Senior Product Manager at Garrett. “As the power of AI spreads across industries, it takes product functionality and performance to a whole new level. Clarity is where those AI-driven gains come from at Garrett. We are now using deep learning to achieve performance enhancements previously not thought possible for metal detection systems. And it’s more than just new software — it’s a powerful new development platform that supports our software development effort.”

Clarity was developed at Garrett’s Garland, Texas, facility with appropriate patent protections and trademark protections. All Paragon units with software version 2.00.1 or later come equipped with Clarity-developed software improvements. The announcement by America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), which includes CVS Health’s Aetna, Humana, Cigna, Centene and an array of Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans as members, comes ahead of the first meeting of the reconstituted Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, which now has new members chosen by U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a vaccine critic. “Health plans are committed to maintaining and ensuring affordable access to vaccines,” AHIP said in a statement Wednesday. “Health plan coverage decisions for immunizations are grounded in each plan’s ongoing, rigorous review of scientific and clinical evidence, and continual evaluation of multiple sources of data.” The move by AHIP is good news for millions of Americans at a time of year when they flock to drugstores, pharmacies, physician’s offices and outpatient clinics to get their seasonal flu and Covid shots. Kennedy’s changes to U.S. vaccine policy have created confusion across the country over whether certain vaccines long covered by insurance would continue to be. AHIP has now provided some clarity for millions of Americans. “Health plans will continue to cover all ACIP-recommended immunizations that were recommended as of September 1, 2025, including updated formulations of the COVID-19 and influenza vaccines, with no cost-sharing…
