  • CZ tells users to check clothing colors, resolution glitches, and account details, and to stay vigilant against AI-driven impersonation schemes.

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao has alerted users to a scam operation using artificial intelligence to create fake images of him in an attempt to deceive people on social media, according to a post on X.

Zhao stated that scammers are impersonating him by posing as individuals “close to him” using AI-generated images, according to the post. The warning comes after Zhao identified an X account with approximately 863,000 followers that is using his image as part of the fraudulent scheme.

The account in question uses a photograph of Zhao from a BNB (BNB) Chain event he attended in Korea as its profile banner, according to the founder’s statement. The scammers have reportedly shared numerous AI-generated images designed to create the appearance of Zhao posing with various individuals.

Zhao provided specific indicators to help identify the fake images. He noted that he does not wear blue or purple clothing, and pointed out that the resolution of people in the shared images appears inconsistent, a characteristic commonly associated with AI-generated content, according to his post.

The Binance founder also suggested the fraudulent images may have been derived from an authentic photograph of himself with Aster CEO Leonard.

Zhao urged the community to remain vigilant against such fraudulent attempts and advised users to exercise caution when encountering similar accounts. He added that the Binance team remains receptive to honest and constructive feedback, according to the statement.
