Mysten Labs launched Tidehunter on Sui, introducing a new database designed to improve SSD performance and support future gasless transfers.

Mysten Labs has announced the launch of Tidehunter for the Sui network, marking an early move toward gasless and stable transfers.

The update introduces a new database system aimed at improving performance, reliability, and transaction handling across the network.

SUI Takes First Step Toward Gasless Payments With Tidehunter

Mysten Labs confirmed the release of Tidehunter as a core infrastructure upgrade for Sui.

The database is designed to support high transaction throughput while reducing operational friction.

The launch focuses on backend efficiency rather than user-facing features.

Gasless payments require stable execution systems, and Tidehunter addresses this requirement at the storage level.

According to Noodles Finance, Tidehunter marks the first step, and the team will introduce additional components before enabling full gasless transfers on Sui.

Database Design Optimized for Modern Hardware

Tidehunter is built to optimize modern solid-state drive performance. The system reduces competition in the write path, which is critical during heavy network activity.

All write operations are processed through a high-speed, lock-free write-ahead log. This structure can handle millions of operations per second under sustained workloads.

Instead of using system calls for each write, Tidehunter relies on writable memory-mapped files. This approach lowers overhead and improves write efficiency.

Asynchronous Persistence and Read Performance

Data persistence in Tidehunter is managed asynchronously by background service threads. These threads handle file growth and scheduled synchronization tasks.

This design allows write operations to continue without delays. It also ensures that storage tasks do not interrupt transaction processing.

Tidehunter also uses a dedicated uniform lookup index. This index reduces read latency on critical execution paths across the network.

Infrastructure Direction for the Sui Network

Sui continues to focus on infrastructure upgrades as network usage grows. Database performance plays a key role in transaction stability and cost control.

Gasless payment systems require predictable backend operations. Tidehunter supports this goal by improving storage consistency and execution flow.

Mysten Labs has described Tidehunter as a foundation layer. Additional upgrades are expected as Sui advances toward stable and gasless transfers.

Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC

The post Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson has weighed in on whether the Federal Reserve should make a 25 basis points (bps) Fed rate cut or 50 bps cut. This comes ahead of the Fed decision today at today’s FOMC meeting, with the market pricing in a 25 bps cut. Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are currently trading flat ahead of the rate cut decision. Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell. She remarked that the Fed still has the October and December FOMC meetings to make further cuts if the incoming data warrants it. Johnson also asserted that the data show a robust economy. However, she noted that there can’t be an argument for no Fed rate cut since Powell already signaled at Jackson Hole that they were likely to lower interest rates at this meeting due to concerns over a weakening labor market. Notably, her comment comes as experts argue for both sides on why the Fed should make a 25 bps cut or…
