Beta Technologies stock rocketed higher this week after Amazon revealed the size of its investment in the electric aircraft startup. The disclosure came through an SEC filing showing Amazon’s substantial position in the aerospace company.

BETA Stock Card
BETA Technologies, Inc., BETA

Amazon owns 11.8 million shares of Beta Technologies. That represents about 5% of the company’s outstanding stock.

The stock jumped 25.5% in after-hours trading Tuesday to $21.04. Beta shares had closed at $16.77, gaining just 0.3% during regular trading hours.

The timing of the disclosure raised some eyebrows on Wall Street. Amazon actually backed Beta back in 2021 through its Climate Pledge Fund. The question now is what Amazon plans to do with this stake.

Beta Technologies focuses on electrifying aircraft. The company’s ALIA platform includes two main variants.

The ALIA CTOL is a conventional fixed-wing electric airplane. The ALIA VTOL is an electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.

These electric planes offer a key advantage. They operate quietly, potentially opening up new urban markets for aerospace technology.

Market Competition Heats Up

Beta faces competition from established players in the eVTOL space. Joby Aviation and Archer Aviation are the company’s main rivals.

The market for electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft continues to attract investor interest. All three companies are racing to commercialize their technology.

Beta has made progress on infrastructure deployment. The company now operates more than 50 charging sites across the U.S. and Canada.

GE Aerospace plays a big role in Beta’s development. The jet engine manufacturer was also an early backer of the company.

The two companies are working together on hybrid aircraft propulsion systems. GE Aerospace appears frequently throughout Beta’s IPO documentation.

Stock Performance and Investor Outlook

Beta went public in November 2025 at $34 per share. Both Amazon and GE Aerospace held 5% or more stakes at that time according to the IPO prospectus.

The stock has struggled since its debut. Through Tuesday’s close, Beta shares were down 41% year-to-date.

Wednesday’s pre-market trading showed continued strength. The stock rallied about 17% before the opening bell.

Wall Street analysts maintain a positive view on Beta. Seven analysts rate the stock a Buy while one recommends Hold.

The average price target sits at $34.43. That represents potential upside of 105.3% from recent trading levels.

Neither Beta Technologies nor Amazon responded to requests for comment about the stake disclosure. Amazon’s interest in drone technology for delivery operations is well documented.

The SEC filing provided no details about Amazon’s plans for the shares. Investors will watch for any strategic moves between the two companies going forward.

Beta Technologies stock closed Wednesday’s pre-market session with strong gains following the Amazon stake revelation.
