The UK's FCA has filed a lawsuit against HTX, accusing it of illegally promoting cryptocurrency services.

PANews reported on February 12th that, according to The Block, the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has filed a lawsuit against cryptocurrency exchange HTX, accusing it of continuously and illegally promoting cryptocurrency services to UK consumers, violating financial promotion rules. The FCA claims that HTX published unauthorized financial promotional content on its website and social media platforms such as TikTok, X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. The agency had previously warned HTX about this, but the company continued to publish the inappropriate information. The FCA stated that HTX's corporate structure is opaque and that it has repeatedly failed to respond to attempts to contact them.

HTX has taken measures to restrict new user registrations, but the FCA says existing UK users can still access illegal promotional content, and the company has not guaranteed that such restrictions will be permanent. The FCA has asked social media platforms to block HTX accounts for UK users and has requested Apple and Google App Stores to remove the HTX app from the UK. HTX is currently on the FCA's warning list.
