  • Coinbase doubled its BTC units held in its investment portfolio in 2025.
  • The firm added 2,460 ETH in Q4, raising total ETH holdings to 151,175.

Coinbase acquired 841 Bitcoin in the fourth quarter of 2025, raising its total holdings to 15,389 BTC. The holdings are valued at more than $1 billion, according to a recent SEC filing.

The purchase places Coinbase eighth among corporate Bitcoin holders worldwide, based on data from BitcoinTreasuries.NET. The company confirmed that the acquisition was part of a structured weekly buying program.

Coinbase Expands Bitcoin Holdings in Q4

The 841 Bitcoin purchase took place during the final quarter of 2025. The acquisition increased Coinbase’s total Bitcoin reserve to 15,389 BTC. The company disclosed the update in its latest filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

CEO Brian Armstrong spoke about the strategy during the company’s earnings call on Feb. 12. He said, “Our strong balance sheet and progress on the Everything Exchange gives us the ability to continue investing in these market conditions: we’ll keep buying Bitcoin.

The company stated that it followed a structured weekly approach to increase its Bitcoin exposure. This approach allows steady accumulation over time and reduces the effect of short term price swings.

Coinbase confirmed that it intends to maintain this strategy while monitoring market conditions and capital needs.

Structured Weekly Buying Program

Chief Financial Officer Alesia Haas addressed the company’s crypto investment growth during the earnings call. She said, “We’re deploying our money into Bitcoin purchases. We significantly grew our portfolio in 2025. We doubled the number of BTC native units we held in our investment portfolio.”

The company reported that its Bitcoin holdings doubled in native units during 2025. The Q4 purchase formed part of that broader growth plan. Coinbase indicated that it will continue allocating capital toward digital assets.

Haas also said the company plans to balance Bitcoin purchases with other financial actions. “We’re going to continue buying Bitcoin, continue buying back, continue to look at opportunistic M&A, and continue to really dynamically manage the opportunities that we see ahead of us,” she said.

Coinbase stated that it will review capital allocation regularly and adjust based on market developments and internal performance.

Ethereum Holdings Also Increased

In addition to Bitcoin, Coinbase expanded its Ethereum holdings during the fourth quarter. The company acquired 2,460 ETH in Q4. This brought its total Ethereum holdings to 151,175 ETH. The Ethereum reserve is valued at about $297 million based on current market prices. The company included these figures in its quarterly investment portfolio update.

Coinbase has continued to diversify its digital asset reserves while focusing on Bitcoin accumulation. The company operates as a crypto exchange and custody provider in the United States. It also manages its own investment portfolio separate from customer assets.

Corporate treasury allocation to Bitcoin has grown in recent years. Several public companies have added Bitcoin to their balance sheets as part of reserve strategies. Coinbase now ranks among the top ten corporate holders globally.

The company has also focused on expanding other business lines. These include its Base blockchain network and prediction market products. However, the Q4 report centered on Coinbase acquiring 841 Bitcoin in Q4, lifting holdings to 15,389 BTC. Coinbase confirmed that it plans to continue increasing its digital asset reserves while maintaining liquidity and operational flexibility.
