XRP News: XRP Ledger Launches Token Escrow Amendment On Mainnet

Key Insights:

  • In the latest XRP news, the XRPL activates Token Escrow on mainnet, extending escrow to trustline tokens and Multi-Purpose Tokens.
  • Canary Capital cites legal clarity after the SEC case and highlights XRP’s elevated MVRV near multi-year highs.
  • Brad Garlinghouse joins the CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee alongside top crypto and market leaders.

XRP Ledger (XRPL) has rolled out the Token Escrow amendment on mainnet, extending escrow beyond XRP to trustline and multi-purpose tokens.

The update allows conditional, onchain settlement for assets such as stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets across the network.

XRP Ledger (XRPL) Activates Token Escrow Amendment On Mainnet

In a major development, the XRP Ledger has activated the Token Escrow amendment, also known as XLS 85, on its mainnet.

The change expands the network’s native escrow function beyond XRP itself. Until now, escrow on the ledger was limited to XRP payments.

As per the XRP news, the same feature now applies to trustline-based tokens, often referred to as IOUs, and Multi-Purpose Tokens.

This means that assets issued on the network, including stablecoins such as RLUSD and tokenized real-world assets, can now be locked under specific conditions before release.

Funds can be set to unlock at a certain time or when agreed terms are met onchain. As a result, parties can structure payments with greater certainty while reducing counterparty risk.

RippleX, the development arm focused on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), confirmed that the feature is live.

According to its statement, the update broadens the ledger’s native toolbox for institutional decentralized finance.

In practice, the amendment allows businesses and financial platforms to manage conditional settlements without relying on external smart contracts or third-party systems.

According to XRP news, Escrow has long been used in financial markets to hold funds until predefined conditions are satisfied.

By extending this capability to all trustline-based tokens and Multi-Purpose Tokens, the ledger now supports conditional settlement for a wider range of digital assets.

That includes stablecoins, tokenized commodities, and other blockchain-based representations of value issued on XRPL.

Notably, the development comes as the network continues to position itself as infrastructure for regulated digital asset activity.

In related developments, Canary Capital highlighted Ripple’s progress following its long legal dispute with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Ripple Vs SEC lawsuit concluded in August 2025 with a 125 million dollar civil penalty.

XRP was recognized as a security only in institutional sales, a decision that provided regulatory clarity in the United States market.

Canary Capital noted that the XRP Ledger continues to record high levels of network activity, handling thousands of transactions per second.

The firm described the ecosystem as robust, supported by active participants and ongoing development.

The firm also examined XRP’s market metrics, including the Market Value to Realized Value ratio, known as MVRV.

This indicator compares the market value of an asset to the value at which coins last moved onchain.

A high MVRV can signal that investors hold significant unrealized gains, which sometimes precede profit taking and price corrections. A low MVRV can suggest that assets are trading near or below holders’ cost basis.

XRP News: Ripple CEO Joins CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee

Another development tied to XRP news involves Ripple’s Chief Executive Officer, Brad Garlinghouse.

As noted, he has been appointed as a member of the Innovation Advisory Committee formed by the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

The CFTC announced the formation of the committee in Washington, stating that its work will help ensure that the agency’s decisions reflect market realities.

The committee is sponsored by Chairman Michael S. Selig, who also nominated Michael Passalacqua as the designated federal officer.

The Innovation Advisory Committee includes leaders from across digital asset and traditional market firms.

Among them are Hayden Adams of Uniswap Labs, Brian Armstrong of Coinbase, senior executives from CME Group, Nasdaq, Cboe Global Markets, and other major institutions.

Garlinghouse’s inclusion places Ripple alongside several high-profile figures in crypto and financial markets.

Meanwhile, the committee is expected to advise on emerging technology and innovation in derivatives and related markets.

For Ripple and the broader XRP news column, the appointment adds to a period marked by technical upgrades on the network and greater regulatory engagement in the United States.
