Author Bob Gillespie has released a new children’s adventure book that uses genuine outdoor exploration to teach scientific concepts and environmental values to young readers. The Adventures of Jackson & Dakota: A Story of Adventure and Discovery follows two friends who transform a summer of boredom into a multi-day hiking adventure through a forest near Jackson’s uncle’s cabin.

Unlike many children’s adventure stories that rely on exaggerated peril or fantasy elements, this book grounds its excitement in real-life nature and science. Through the characters’ journey, young readers naturally learn about animal behavior, ecology, and environmental stewardship while following an engaging narrative. The book is specifically designed for children ages 8–12 and combines educational content with entertainment value.

‘Nature has so much to teach us,’ says Bob Gillespie. ‘Through this story, I wanted to show kids that adventure isn’t just about facing danger but it’s about discovery, respect for nature, and learning through curiosity.’ The story emphasizes that nature is not an enemy to fear but a teacher full of wisdom, with the boys discovering this through their wildlife encounters and outdoor experiences.

The book addresses a growing interest in nature-based learning and educational fiction that combines adventure with real-world science. With themes of teamwork, responsibility, and curiosity, the story is positioned as ideal for independent reading, family read-alouds, and classroom discussions. The publisher’s website at https://www.parkerpublishers.com provides additional information about their educational titles.

This approach to children’s literature comes at a time when educators and parents are increasingly seeking materials that promote environmental awareness and scientific literacy through engaging narratives. By combining friendship narratives with outdoor exploration themes, the book aims to foster both educational development and a genuine appreciation for the natural world in young readers.

Digital asset custodian BDACS has launched KRW1, South Korea’s first fully regulated won-backed stablecoin, in partnership with Woori Bank. The announcement follows completion of a proof of concept validating technical infrastructure spanning fiat deposits, token issuance, and blockchain verification, as per a Thursday press release. Each KRW1 token maintains full collateralization through South Korean won held in escrow at Woori Bank, with real-time banking API integration providing transparent proof of reserves, according to BDACS’ statement. The company trademarked the KRW1 brand in December 2023, building infrastructure before the advent of formal regulations. KRW1 launched on the Avalanche blockchain, chosen for its “high-performance capabilities” and recognition by Korea’s Internet & Security Agency for “reliability in public-sector applications.” “The successful test pilot of KRW1 demonstrates the need for a highly-performant and reliable blockchain tailored for a regulatory-compliant stablecoin,” Justin Kim, Head of Asia at Ava Labs, said in the statement. BDACS envisions KRW1 serving remittances, payments, investments, and deposits, with public-sector deployment planned for low-cost payment and settlement systems in emergency relief disbursements. The company plans to expand KRW1 to additional blockchains and explore collaborations with global stablecoin networks, including potential partnerships with USD-backed issuers Circle and Tether, according to the press release.
