Elon Musk: The probability that we live in basic reality is only one in a billion.

I finally understand why Musk is so convinced that we live in a simulated world.

Neil deGrasse Tyson (renowned American astrophysicist): I hoped to find a strong argument to refute it (the hypothesis that the world is virtual), but I couldn't find one.

I'm an investor, an entrepreneur, and I believe in code, logic, and verifiable data. This kind of science fiction-like speculation, in my view, is nothing more than a billionaire's after-dinner pastime.

But what truly made me waver was not Musk, nor physics, but two seemingly inexplicable little things that happened to me.

The first little thing is about a fortune teller.

I have a fortune teller I've worked with for many years. Before investing in any new project, I always have him do my calculations. I'm not superstitious; I just treat it as a kind of alternative "risk assessment."

What's outrageous is that the results he provided overlapped with my final investment return to an astonishing degree. He could even accurately pinpoint what kind of "hurdles" the project would encounter at each stage.

At first, I thought it was a coincidence. But after this "coincidence" repeated itself more than ten times, I had to admit: there must be some logic behind it that I couldn't understand.

The second little thing is about my best friend who is a tarot reader.

I have a best friend who is outstanding in every way—her family background and education are impeccable. A few years ago, she suddenly said she wanted to learn tarot cards.

I thought she was crazy. But because we were so close, I didn't dare say anything.

Later, I started asking her some questions, just for fun. And the results were incredibly accurate.

I started to doubt it. I had her calculate it in different ways: offline with cards, mobile phone with cards, and even repeatedly with the same question. The result was that the core information that came out each time was surprisingly consistent.

I was completely baffled. I asked her, "What exactly is the principle behind tarot cards?"

She gave me an explanation that sent chills down my spine:

The word "database permissions" struck me like a bolt of lightning.

I suddenly remembered Elon Musk's quote. I began to re-examine the world from the perspective of a programmer at the very bottom.

Then, I discovered more and more "coincidences," so many that I couldn't refute them.

Coincidence 1: "Junk Code" in DNA

Our DNA is like an extremely complex piece of code. But strangely, 98% of its sequences are "junk DNA" that does not encode proteins.

Why is there so much "useless" code?

If we view the world as a program, this becomes very easy to explain:

  • That's legacy code from an older version.

  • Those are commented-out but not deleted functional modules.

  • That was redundant data left over from the system upgrade.

It's like old files on your computer; you don't use them anymore, but you're too lazy to delete them.

Coincidence Two: "Version Updates" Before and After the Great Flood

Why do ancient civilizations around the world share a common memory of the "Great Flood"? China has the legend of Nuwa patching up the sky, while the West has Noah's Ark.

Why do humans in these myths have such amazing lifespans before the Great Flood (often eight or nine hundred years), but after the Great Flood their lifespans plummet?

Doesn't this resemble a server being "wiped and restarted"?

  1. Great Flood = System Reset

  2. High lifespan before flood = old version parameter settings

  3. The reduced lifespan after the flood = parameter adjustments in the new version (possibly to limit player abilities).

Coincidence Three: The "Performance Limitations" of the Universe

⭕️The Big Bang : It's not a singularity, but rather the system booting up (UNIVERSE.EXE LOADING...).

⭕️Speed of light: Not a physical limitation, but the upper limit of CPU clock speed.

⭕️Déjà vu: It's not a memory lapse, but a cache error.

When I pieced these clues together, I came to a conclusion that sent chills down my spine:

So, if this is true, what should we do? Just give up?

This conclusion initially felt incredibly bleak to me. If everything is just code, then what's the point of our efforts?

But metaphysics gave me another answer: fate can be changed .

Yes, this world may be virtual, but all your feelings—love, joy, pain, and a sense of accomplishment—are absolutely real .

Your destiny is like the factory settings of a game character; it determines your potential. For example, I may never become the world's richest person in my lifetime.

However, in my own version, I can try to live to my limit .

I can fully experience all the beauty this world brings me, feel every heartbeat, and create my own value.

Conclusion: From "Player" to "Advanced Player"

Having written this far, I finally understand Musk's conviction. He's not playing philosophy; he's using first principles to contemplate the truth of our existence.

Simulation theory is not pessimistic. On the contrary, it gives us unprecedented freedom.

Our generation is at a great inflection point, shifting from passive "players" to active "advanced players." Holding the keys of Web3 and AI, we have, for the first time, the opportunity to explore, and even rewrite, the rules of this "simulated world."

This is far more important than figuring out whether the world is real or fake.

So stop laughing. Next time you encounter an inexplicable "coincidence," try thinking about this:

What kind of role would you like to play in this game?
