Fans of President Donald Trump's MAGA movement melted down on Tuesday after a popular right-wing podcaster debuted a trailer for her new investigative series.
Candace Owens published a trailer of her latest series, "Bride of Charlie," on Tuesday, which is billed as an investigation into the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk's widow, Erika. The teaser features clips of Erika Kirk speaking about her late husband's death at multiple events, and also makes references to "Zionists" and Israel, whom Owens has baselessly accused of killing Kirk.
The video sparked swift backlash on social media.
"I don't know Erika Kirk," Jeremy Boreing, co-founder of The Daily Wire, posted on X. "I do know Candace Owens. Erika met the moment of her husband's assassination with a grace unimaginable. Candace met the moment of her so-called friend's assassination as she meets every moment -- focused on herself and her insatiable hunger for fame and aggrandizement."
“Pure, unadulterated, f------ evil. Who in God’s name would put a woman whose husband was brutally assassinated in front of the entire world through this? I am so upset by this, I am just so deeply sorry Erika and her family have to be put through this,” MAGA pundit Meghan McCain posted on X.
"Candace Owens has completely lost it," Reverend Jorad Wells, founder of the Christians Against Zionism Institute, posted on X. "She's dropped an entire multi-episode 'investigative series' called *Bride of Charlie* (or *Bride of Kirk*) that's basically a full-on attack on Erika Kirk, the grieving widow of Charlie Kirk. Erika just buried her husband after his assassination, she's raising their kids alone, and has ZERO proven connection to his death—yet Candace is out here pushing wild accusations, airing private grief moments, and implying the worst."
