President Donald Trump asked a child he invited to the State of the Union Address with limited mobility to "please stand up."

The child, Delilah Coleman, was severely injured two years ago when a noncitizen truck driver slammed his vehicle into her family's parked car. Trump invited her to sell Congress on passing what he calls, "Delilah's Law," a federal prohibition on states giving commercial driver's licenses to unauthorized immigrants.

"Delilah Coleman was only 5years old in June 2024, when an 18-wheel tractor-trailer plowed into her stopped car, traveling at 60 mph or more," said Trump. "The driver was an illegal alien, let in by Joe Biden and given a commercial driver's license by open borders, politicians and California. Doctors said Delilah would never be able to walk or talk, have a good life. She wouldn't even be able to eat again. But against all odds, she is now in the first grade, learning to walk."

"And she's here this evening with her dad, Marcus, a fantastic man," said Trump. "Delilah, please. You are a great inspiration. Please stand up. Thank you."

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has slammed the Trump administration's effort to crack down on state issuance of driver's licenses, noting that the administration itself has approved work permits for drivers involved in serious crashes.
