IEshikawa 20 Engineers the Human Rhythm

This year, UP CIEM presents IEshikawa 20 – ATRIA: The Industrial Pulse of Systems. Scheduled on February 27-28, its 20th installment explores the vital role of Industrial Engineering in helping the healthcare industry navigate today’s global health crisis by showcasing how core IE principles are applied to improve decision-making, enhance efficiency, and optimize systems to sustain the rhythm of healthcare operations.

IEshikawa is an annual nationwide Industrial Engineering event offered by University of the Philippines Circle of Industrial Engineering Majors (UP CIEM). Serving as an alternative avenue for continuous growth and learning, IEshikawa aims to harness the knowledge and aptitudes of Industrial Engineering students and apply these skills to provide service to the community. Over the years, this event has consistently produced high-quality event programs and workshops that showcase and promote the true spirit of Industrial Engineering.

This installment promises an immersive journey of curated talks, workshops, competitions, and career fair. The following are its five major events:

1. The IExplore: Case Study Competition, in partnership with A.P. Moller – Maersk, aims to provide the Industrial Engineering students an opportunity to showcase their skills, knowledge of IE concepts, and application abilities.
2. The IEnnovate: Design Sprint Hackathon, in partnership with Ask Lex PH Academy, strives to test the creativity and wit of the participants by proposing designs in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
3. The IExcel: Quiz Bee Competition tests participants’ knowledge of IE concepts, critical thinking, and problem solving skills with a strategic twist.
4. The IExperience: Ambassador Mixer selects a lucky few to have an opportunity to serve and represent the Industrial Engineering community, offering a behind-the-scenes look and an exclusive leadership workshop.
5. The IEngage: Career Fair serves as an avenue to discuss employment and/or internship opportunities with the participants, connecting aspiring Industrial Engineers with industry leaders and top-tier companies. It provides a platform for networking, career coaching, and direct recruitment, helping students bridge the gap between academic theory and professional practice.
