Scream 7, starring Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox, is new in theaters. Are the end credits worth sticking around for?
Rated R, Scream 7 opens in theaters nationwide on Friday. The official summary for the film reads, “When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.”
While the “once and for all” line in the synopsis suggests some sort of finality to Sidney’s story, a healthy opening at the box office will no doubt prompt the Scream franchise’s studio, Paramount Pictures, to consider whether the story of the Ghostface killer should continue.
One way franchises tend to leave a door open for future installments comes with the inclusion of end credits or post-credits scenes. And while the inclusion of such stinger scenes never guarantees a sequel — box office profitability is king for any studio — Paramount went ahead and included additional footage after the end credits for Scream 7 begin to roll.

What Happens After The Credits Start Rolling For ‘Scream 7’?
Scream 7 concludes with a confrontation between two Ghostface killers (the identities of whom will not be spoiled here) and Sidney Prescott and her daughter, Tatum, at their home.
After both Ghostface killers perish in a gruesome fashion, Gail Weathers (Courteney Cox), who is now an independent reporter, shows up at the scene with her two interns, Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and her twin brother, Chad (Mason Gooding). Mindy and Chad, of course, were principal players in 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI.
As always, Gail is determined to report the breaking story via a local TV station. Instead of reporting on the scene, though, Gail hands the microphone to Mindy, whose aspiration is to replace her boss as a TV reporter. Gail, meanwhile, goes to comfort Sidney and Tatum and the final scene in the film shows the three of them walking away from the house, while a Ghostface killer flickers in the frame.
At the beginning of the end credits for Scream 7, there’s a curtain call sequence where each of the key actors in the film is introduced with a brief clip of their character. After that, a mid-credits scene shows Chad, who is now Mindy’s cameraman, readying his sister for her big debut with her report from the crime scene — but Mindy keeps flubbing her intro. After her last take, Chad admits that he forgot to hit record.
Viewers can look at the mid-credit scene in a pair of different ways. One, it could just be a scene to bookend a sequence earlier in the film where Mindy said she wants to be the next Gail Weathers, and it’s inconsequential to the future of the franchise.
Otherwise, the scene could possibly be signaling that since Gail has passed the microphone to Mindy, it means Mindy will assume the role of the crime reporter in the franchise going forward.
For fans hoping for a post-credits scene for Scream 7, there are none. As such, there’s no teaser at all during the end- or post-credits to indicate that another Scream movie is possibly on the way.
Directed by Kevin Williamson and also starring David Arquette, Anna Camp, Roger L. Jackson, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Mckenna Grace, Asa Germann, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Ethan Embry, Mark Consuelos, Tim Simons, Matthew Lillard and Joel McHale, Scream 7 opens in theaters nationwide on Friday.
