Israel's ambassador to the U.S. unleashed a blistering attack on Tucker Carlson Friday, blasting the former Fox News host's rhetoric as offensive and deeply troubling.
Carlson has repeatedly suggested that Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, is pulling the strings on Trump's intense Iran pressure campaign — a claim Leiter flatly rejected.
Yechiel Leiter told the New York Post that Carlson's recent comments claiming President Donald Trump bowed to Israeli pressure are "bordering on pornography."
“It’s just such nonsense to say that Netanyahu is dragging President Trump. And it’s just bordering on pornography. It’s so disgusting,” Leiter said.
The ambassador condemned what he called an ancient, harmful stereotype.
“It’s an old antisemitic trope: the Jews are in control. America acts in its own best interest … It’s so insulting. He’s insulting to the president and downright antisemitic to the Jews and Jewish State,” he said.
Leiter stressed that the U.S. decides whether to strike Iran, not Israel. He called the Jewish State a "model ally" and rejected suggestions that Israel is pressuring Washington into military action.
The ambassador grew particularly pointed when discussing Carlson's motivations.
“I really hope that he’s as stupid as he appears. I really hope so. Because if he’s not stupid, then he’s obviously being funded by somebody. So I prefer that he be stupid rather than be fully corrupt,” said Leiter.
“He is being terribly insulting to the president of the United States, the vice president of the United States, and this administration to the American people and he’s being downright antisemitic to the Jews of this country,” Leiter added.
