MANILA, Philippines – Veteran actress Odette Khan is confined at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute since February 21 for multiple health issues, her family confirmed.

The update was shared by her daughter, Claudette Avelino-Tandoc, through the “Bar Boys” Facebook page.

She appealed to fans to help with the actress’ mounting hospital bills because of a recent procedure. The family called for help to cover ongoing medical bills, which stood at over P211,000 as of February 27.

According to the post, the veteran actress recently had fluid drained from her right lung and is currently hospitalized for pneumonia, emphysema, and edema.

Odette Khan’s career spans five decades, where she was best known for kontrabida or antagonist roles.

In 2017, she captured the hearts of young fans and received critical acclaim for her role as Justice Fernandez in the “Bar Boys” franchise.

Her portrayal of the strict law professor earned her the Best Supporting actress award from the PMPC Star Awards, FAMAS, and Gawad Urian.

She later reprised her role for Bar Boys: After School in 2025, where she won the Best Supporting Actress Award from the 2025 Manila Metropolitan Film Festival. – Rappler.com
