MTN’s Starlink launch plan in Zambia signals a new phase for satellite internet expansion, aiming to accelerate rural connectivity and support the country’s digital economy.
Satellite connectivity enters Zambia’s telecom landscape

MTN’s Starlink launch plan in Zambia marks a notable development in the country’s telecommunications sector. The initiative aims to deploy satellite-powered internet services to expand digital access in areas where traditional broadband infrastructure remains limited.

According to MTN Group, the collaboration with Starlink forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen connectivity across underserved regions. Satellite technology enables high-speed internet coverage in remote communities where fibre networks and mobile towers are difficult to deploy.

Expanding digital inclusion and economic participation

Zambia has prioritised digital inclusion as a driver of economic growth. The government has encouraged telecom operators to invest in infrastructure that connects rural populations to the digital economy. Satellite connectivity could therefore support access to online services, digital payments, and remote education platforms.

The country’s telecom regulator, the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority, has previously highlighted the importance of innovative connectivity solutions to bridge the digital divide. Satellite internet may complement existing 4G and fibre networks, improving reliability in sparsely populated areas.

Regional momentum for satellite broadband

The MTN Starlink launch plan in Zambia also reflects wider momentum across Africa’s telecommunications industry. Several markets are exploring satellite broadband as a means to reach rural communities and strengthen digital infrastructure.

In addition, analysts note that demand for data services continues to grow as businesses and households rely more on cloud platforms and digital tools. Satellite systems offer a faster deployment model compared with large-scale terrestrial infrastructure projects.

Implications for Zambia’s digital economy

Improved connectivity could support multiple sectors of the Zambian economy. Small businesses may gain better access to online marketplaces, while farmers could benefit from digital information platforms that improve productivity and market access.

International development institutions have emphasised the economic potential of digital connectivity. The World Bank has consistently highlighted broadband access as a key enabler of productivity and inclusive growth across emerging markets.

Furthermore, stronger connectivity infrastructure may support Zambia’s ambitions to expand digital services in banking, public administration, and education. As a result, the MTN Starlink launch plan in Zambia may contribute to broader digital transformation efforts in the years ahead.

U.S. Court Finds Pastor Found Guilty in $3M Crypto Scam

The post U.S. Court Finds Pastor Found Guilty in $3M Crypto Scam appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Crime 18 September 2025 | 04:05 A Colorado judge has brought closure to one of the state’s most unusual cryptocurrency scandals, declaring INDXcoin to be a fraudulent operation and ordering its founders, Denver pastor Eli Regalado and his wife Kaitlyn, to repay $3.34 million. The ruling, issued by District Court Judge Heidi L. Kutcher, came nearly two years after the couple persuaded hundreds of people to invest in their token, promising safety and abundance through a Christian-branded platform called the Kingdom Wealth Exchange. The scheme ran between June 2022 and April 2023 and drew in more than 300 participants, many of them members of local church networks. Marketing materials portrayed INDXcoin as a low-risk gateway to prosperity, yet the project unraveled almost immediately. The exchange itself collapsed within 24 hours of launch, wiping out investors’ money. Despite this failure—and despite an auditor’s damning review that gave the system a “0 out of 10” for security—the Regalados kept presenting it as a solid opportunity. Colorado regulators argued that the couple’s faith-based appeal was central to the fraud. Securities Commissioner Tung Chan said the Regalados “dressed an old scam in new technology” and used their standing within the Christian community to convince people who had little knowledge of crypto. For him, the case illustrates how modern digital assets can be exploited to replicate classic Ponzi-style tactics under a different name. Court filings revealed where much of the money ended up: luxury goods, vacations, jewelry, a Range Rover, high-end clothing, and even dental procedures. In a video that drew worldwide attention earlier this year, Eli Regalado admitted the funds had been spent, explaining that a portion went to taxes while the remainder was used for a home renovation he claimed was divinely inspired. The judgment not only confirms that INDXcoin qualifies as a…

Solana Treasury Firm Holdings Could Double as Forward Industries Unveils $4 Billion Raise

Solana Treasury Firm Holdings Could Double as Forward Industries Unveils $4 Billion Raise

The post Solana Treasury Firm Holdings Could Double as Forward Industries Unveils $4 Billion Raise appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. In brief Forward Industries, the largest publicly traded Solana treasury company, filed to raise $4 billion through an at-the-market equity offering to expand its SOL holdings. The company’s stock (FORD) fell 8.2% following the announcement, while the proceeds could more than double the $3.1 billion currently held in Solana treasuries. DeFi Development Corp. also registered a preferred stock offering with the SEC, following similar funding tactics used by Bitcoin treasury companies like MicroStrategy. Forward Industries, the newest and largest publicly traded Solana treasury company, has filed to raise $4 billion through an at-the-market equity offering. For the sake of comparison, this $4 billion raise is nearly the same size as Bitcoin treasury Strategy’s Stride preferred stock raise in July. And it’s double the size of the Strife preferred stock offering the company did in May. The proceeds would be used for working capital; pursuit of its Solana token strategy, and “the purchase of income-generating assets to grow its business,” the company said in a press release. Forward Industries declined to comment to Decrypt on what other income-generating assets it’s considering adding to its balance sheet. As markets opened Wednesday morning, Forward saw its stock price take a dive. The shares, which trade under the FORD ticker on the Nasdaq, dipped to $31.29 before rebounding to $34.28 at the time of writing—marking a 8.2% fall for the session. If the company sells all the shares and spends the bulk of the proceeds on buying Solana, it could more than double the amount of SOL being held in treasuries. At the time of writing, there’s already $3.1 billion in Solana treasuries, according to crypto price aggregator CoinGecko. Users on Myriad, a prediction market owned by Decrypt parent company DASTAN, have been growing more confident that SOL will reach $250 sooner than…
