One of President Donald Trump's allies in Congress left political analysts aghast on Tuesday after making a startling admission during a Fox News interview.

Rep. James Comer (R-KY) joined Jesse Watters on "Jesse Watters Prime Time," where the two discussed the ongoing investigation into disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein's ranch in New Mexico. The 7,600-acre property, known as Zorro Ranch, was mentioned in multiple allegations against Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell. It was recently sold to a Trump ally named Don Huffines, a Republican state representative in Texas.

During the interview, Comer said he supported the renewed attention that the ranch was receiving and told Watters that the federal government ordered the previous investigation into the ranch to stop in 2019.

That admission raised eyebrows among political analysts, who shared their reactions on social media.

"The cover-up isn’t new, it’s ongoing," Melanie D'Arrigo, executive director of the Campaign for New York Health, posted on X.

"A DOJ coverup, potentially of murder," Norman Ornstein, contributing editor for The Atlantic, posted on X.

"So Trump’s DOJ killed the investigation. Got it," Gabe Sanchez, host of the "WhatWasThatShow," posted on X.

"That would be Trump’s DOJ under Bill Barr, Jesse," writer Polly Sigh posted on X.
