  • Tether unveiled its QVAC BitNet LoRA framework for cross-platform AI training.
  • Developers can fine-tune billion-parameter models without costly cloud infrastructure.
  • Benchmarks show efficient training with a 125M model in 10 mins on a Samsung smartphone.

Tether launched a new artificial intelligence framework designed to run large AI models on everyday devices. Tether unveiled the technology as part of its QVAC Fabric system. This framework enables developers to fine-tune AI models directly on smartphones and consumer computers.

The development targets researchers, developers, and organizations that rely on AI tools. These groups often depend on expensive cloud systems or specialized hardware. Tether noted the new system reduces those requirements and allows AI models to operate on widely available devices.

The framework works with Microsoft BitNet models and supports cross-platform training. It also allows inference acceleration across consumer GPUs and mobile processors.

Tether Introduces AI Training on Consumer Devices

Tether announced the release of the first cross-platform LoRA fine-tuning framework for BitNet models. It allows billion-parameter language models to run on devices such as laptops, smartphones, and consumer GPUs.

Traditional AI training usually depends on powerful enterprise-level computing systems. Many developers rely on specialized NVIDIA hardware or large cloud platforms. Running this infrastructure often comes with very high operating costs.

The new framework reduces those barriers by supporting hardware from several manufacturers. It operates across Intel, AMD, and Apple Silicon chips. It also supports mobile graphics processors such as Adreno, Mali, and Apple Bionic GPUs.

Tether engineers demonstrated the system by training BitNet models directly on smartphones. A 125-million-parameter model completed training in about 10 minutes on a Samsung S25 device using a biomedical dataset. Testing also showed that a 13-billion-parameter model could run on an iPhone 16. This capability expands AI training beyond traditional data centers.

BitNet Framework Enhances  Local AI Growth

The new system enhances efficiency in inference and training processes. Benchmarks have demonstrated that the BitNet-1B models require up to 77.8% less VRAM than the Gemma-3-1B (16-bit) models. They also use approximately 65.6% less memory as compared to Qwen3-0.6B (16-bit) models at the same workloads.

Smaller AI models can be loaded on smaller devices due to reduced memory consumption. This brings fresh opportunities in terms of developers with minimal hardware resources. It also makes it possible to personalize tasks that would have been expensive to do in a larger infrastructure.

Mobile GPU performance also improved during testing. Results show that GPUs on mobile devices processed workloads between two and eleven times faster than CPUs.This improvement allows smartphones to handle tasks that were once limited to specialized systems.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino highlighted that the project makes AI tools more accessible to a wider audience. He explained that by enabling meaningful large-model training on consumer hardware, including smartphones, Tether’s QVAC demonstrates how advanced AI can be decentralized, inclusive, and empowering for everyone.

UK Looks to US to Adopt More Crypto-Friendly Approach

The post UK Looks to US to Adopt More Crypto-Friendly Approach appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The UK and US are reportedly preparing to deepen cooperation on digital assets, with Britain looking to copy the Trump administration’s crypto-friendly stance in a bid to boost innovation.  UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent discussed on Tuesday how the two nations could strengthen their coordination on crypto, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.  The discussions also involved representatives from crypto companies, including Coinbase, Circle Internet Group and Ripple, with executives from the Bank of America, Barclays and Citi also attending, according to the report. The agreement was made “last-minute” after crypto advocacy groups urged the UK government on Thursday to adopt a more open stance toward the industry, claiming its cautious approach to the sector has left the country lagging in innovation and policy.  Source: Rachel Reeves Deal to include stablecoins, look to unlock adoption Any deal between the countries is likely to include stablecoins, the Financial Times reported, an area of crypto that US President Donald Trump made a policy priority and in which his family has significant business interests. The Financial Times reported on Monday that UK crypto advocacy groups also slammed the Bank of England’s proposal to limit individual stablecoin holdings to between 10,000 British pounds ($13,650) and 20,000 pounds ($27,300), claiming it would be difficult and expensive to implement. UK banks appear to have slowed adoption too, with around 40% of 2,000 recently surveyed crypto investors saying that their banks had either blocked or delayed a payment to a crypto provider.  Many of these actions have been linked to concerns over volatility, fraud and scams. The UK has made some progress on crypto regulation recently, proposing a framework in May that would see crypto exchanges, dealers, and agents treated similarly to traditional finance firms, with…
