Trump sneers at his loyalists and profits from their losses: analysis

Writer Amanda Marcotte argued in a Substack analysis that President Donald Trump's contempt for his most loyal MAGA supporters is worsening, despite their unwavering backing.

Marcotte highlighted Trump's decision to deploy ICE agents to airports nationwide to address government shutdown staffing shortages, which negatively impacts Trump voters who fly. More revealing, she noted, is Trump's dismissive response to rising gas prices— a predictable consequence of his Iran war.

The president and Vice President JD Vance sneer with annoyance when questioned about skyrocketing pump prices, according to the analysis.

Trump even attempted to frame high gas prices positively, claiming "we make a lot of money" when prices surge, language that excludes 99 percent of Americans, including his base.

Marcotte concluded Trump and his administration genuinely hold contempt for most Americans, viewing non-MAGA supporters as liberals requiring silencing while regarding Trump voters as easily manipulated.
