Former Reagan administration official and conservative media personality Mark Levin delivered a monologue Saturday night that critics say may have “single-handedly” doomed the GOP in the upcoming midterms, and possibly damaged President Donald Trump’s legacy “for eternity.”
On Saturday afternoon, Trump urged his followers on social media to watch Levin on Fox News later that same night. During the broadcast, Levin argued in favor of deploying U.S. boots on the ground in Iran, saying such a move would be necessary to seize the nation’s supply of uranium, a key element in the production of nuclear weapons.
However, Levin omitted the consensus among experts that Iran’s uranium stockpiles are not enriched to levels capable of producing nuclear weapons.
Levin’s remarks sparked immediate backlash among critics, some of whom declared the broadcast to be a defining moment in the lead-up to the 2026 midterm elections.
“Mark Levin may single-handedly lose the midterms for Republicans and destroy Trump’s legacy for eternity,” wrote X user “TheWuhanClan,” a popular political commentator and self-described war veteran to their more than 20,000 followers. “The war in Iran is the stupidest thing they could have done.”
Others, like geopolitical commentator Brian Allen, criticized Trump for what he characterized as the blatant use of Levin to promote his unpopular war against Iran, of which a majority of Americans disapprove.
“Trump just told Americans to watch Mark Levin tonight,” Allen wrote in a social media post on X. “Levin’s message: we need boots on the ground in Iran to seize their uranium. The President of the United States is using a cable TV host to prepare the public for a ground invasion.”![[Vantage Point] When fuel stops being a cost and becomes a constraint](https://www.rappler.com/tachyon/2026/03/sdbcbuzm93i-1.jpg)
