Iran insists it has not negotiated with the United States since the outbreak of the war.

PANews reported on March 31 that, according to Jinshi News, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghae posted on social media that Iran has not held any negotiations with the United States since the start of the war against Iran. "In these 31 days, we have not held any negotiations with the United States," Baghae stated. "Currently, the United States has conveyed its request for negotiations and a package of proposals to us through certain intermediaries, including Pakistan." He stated that Iran's position on a ceasefire remains unchanged. "Our position is very clear. Currently, because the United States' military aggression and invasion are still in full swing, all our efforts and capabilities are dedicated to protecting Iran's fundamental interests." Baghae stated that Iran "will not forget that its diplomatic efforts have been betrayed twice in less than a year." The first betrayal he referred to was the 12-day war in June 2025, when the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iranian military and nuclear facilities during negotiations.
