CNN data guru says voters are furious — and that’s a problem for Trump

CNN data analyst Harry Enten explained on Thursday that angry people vote and that's a huge problem for President Donald Trump and the GOP.

It is 165 days until Election Day in 2026, and thus far, Republicans who have bucked Trump on issues are being taken out in primary elections thanks \ in part to millions in campaign spending from Trump's networks of super PACs.

Speaking on Thursday morning, Enten cautioned that many people never even cast a ballot in 2024.

"They have become absolutely perturbed. I dare say they are p—— off at the president of the United States," he said. "Voters who didn't cast a ballot in 2024 — Trump's approval rating back in November of 2024, just after the election. Look at his net approval rating was plus four points for his plans in office. But look at that. It is falling. Yeah. Woo! There you go. Sara Sidner, that's the only sound you can make! It has fallen through the floor. Look at this!"

But then things went downhill fast.

"It gets worse, Trump's approval among non-voters: -50 points. On Trump's approval rating among voters who did not, in fact, cast a ballot in 2024, that is. You don't have to be a mathematical genius — an over 50-point move against the president of the United States among those who are kind of like, meh, you know, in terms of voting in 2024, but now they are pissed off," Enten said.

CNN co-host Sara Sidner noted that the turnout can make a huge difference. In the case of 2020, there was an enormous turnout with a larger shake of Democratic voters. In 2024, Trump should know that the d a larger share of his voters' turnout, the Pew Research Center reported.

Enten said that anyone who has been following his segments for the past year should know that the economy is making voters not only scared but angry.

"And you can just see it here. I mean, view of Trump in the economy, again, among voters who did not cast a vote in 2024, in November of 2024, 60 percent were confident in Trump to make good decisions when it came to the economy. But again, this number has just absolutely plummeted," he said. It is now one-third of where it was.

"It's about turnout, baby. It's about turnout. And these folks are not just p—— off and want to vote democratic. A lot of them are actually very likely to vote," closed Enten.
