As the final putt has dropped at the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, the major golf tournaments of 2025 come to a close. However, the PGA Tour Fall season continues on with seven more events that will set the stage for the 2026 PGA Tour regular season. Rising stars on the PGA Tour will try to make their mark, seasoned professionals will fight to keep their Tour cards, and a slate of international events bring the PGA Tour to the global stage.

The top 50 ranked players in the FedExCup standings are fully exempt for the 2026 season including all Signature Events and The Players Championship. However, the remaining 51-125 ranked players have a lot to play for during the FedExCup Fall season. FedExCup Fall points can determine event eligibility, including entry into the Signature Events, PGA Tour status, and even whether a player retains their PGA Tour card altogether.

2025 PGA Tour Fall Schedule Overview

The first tournament of the PGA Tour Fall schedule has come and gone. The Procore Championship, held Sep. 11-14 in Napa, California, was won by Scottie Scheffler. The Procore Championship was attended by thirteen of the top 50 players in the World Golf Rankings, many of those top 50 ranked players in attendance for Ryder Cup preparation. Six FedExCup Fall season tournaments remain:

  • Sanderson Farms Championship at The Country Club of Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi — October 2-5;
  • Baycurrent Classic at Yokohama Country Club in Yokohama, Japan — October 9-12;
  • Black Desert Championship at Black Desert Resort Golf Course in Ivins, Utah — October 23-26;
  • World Wide Technology Championship at El Cardonal at Diamante in Los Cabos, Mexico — November 6-9;
  • Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda — November 13-16; and
  • The RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Georgia — November 20-23.

How the PGA Tour FedExCup Fall Impacts FedExCup and PGA Tour Eligibility

All players ranked 51 and beyond carry FedExCup points over from the regular season and first Playoff event into the FedExCup Fall and continue to accumulate FedExCup points through the FedExCup Fall season to finalize eligibility for the 2026 season. At the conclusion of the FedExCup Fall season, players ranked 51-60 will qualify for two Signature Events, and players ranked 51-70 will be fully exempt on the PGA Tour, including The Players Championship. New for 2025, players ranked 71-100 will retain full status on the PGA Tour (down from 125 in 2024), and players ranked 101-125 will receive conditional status on the PGA Tour (down from 150 in 2024).

The reduction from top 125 to top 100 in 2025 for the 2026 season should signal greater competitiveness for fully exempt players as the margins for retaining a PGA Tour card and full exempt status are now thinner.

Players to Watch Heading Into the PGA Tour FedExCup Fall Season

As the FedExCup Fall Season began at the Procore Championship, a number of notable players were not ranked in the top 50. Jordan Spieth (ranked 55th), Wyndham Clark (ranked 56th), and Tony Finau (ranked 67th) are not fully exempt for the 2026 season on ranking and so do not have entry into all of the Signature Events and The Players Championship. These three Tour veterans will need to fight to ensure their top 60 ranking for entry into the first two Signature Events in 2026 and valuable FedExCup points in 2026.

Others, like Joel Dahmen (ranked 98th), Max Homa (ranked 107th), Harry Higgs (ranked 116th), and Alejandro Tosti (ranked 118th) will also be fighting for rankings. As it stands now, only Joel Dahmen would have full PGA Tour status, and Max Homa, Harry Higgs, and Alejandro Tosti would receive only conditional Tour status. As these players fight to secure full PGA Tour status, the FedExCup Fall season will be sure to produce drama. Not only will these players will be playing for their jobs, but also to declare their stardom.

With thinner margins than previous years, every finish in the PGA Tour FedExCup Fall Season carries weight and purpose. Performance in FedExCup Fall season events not only provide winners with FedExCup points, but also the ability to shape season schedules and eligibility for Signature Events. While some veteran players will be fighting to retain their status, the up and coming superstars will be looking to secure their card and make their mark on the game, starting with the FedExCup Fall.
