Jannik Sinner put on a near-perfect display of tennis to beat rival Carlos Alcaraz and take home the richest prize in the sport’s history.

The world No. 2 defeated the world No. 1, 6-2, 6-4, in the Six Kings Slam final in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, to earn his second consecutive victory in the Saudi-backed exhibition event.

The Italian dominated with a flawless serve and precise groundstrokes, earning a record $6 million prize streamed live on Netflix.

The previous highest payout was this year’s U.S. Open, which paid $5 million to Alcaraz, who beat Sinner in the final, and women’s champ Aryna Sabalenka.

“I wish I could play like this everywhere,” Sinner said in his on-court interview.

“This season we played many, many times and I also lost many times to Carlos. It is a huge pleasure and honour to share the court with him.

“At the same time, you want to get better as a player and you need rivalries in the sport. So it’s nice to have a great rivalry and more importantly a great friendship off the court.

“We have a very special friendship and it’s very nice.”

Alcaraz had won seven of the last eight against Sinner, including the French Open and U.S. Open finals. This match did not count in their official ATP head-to-head.

“Hello everyone, I’m smiling but I just lost the final against this guy,” Alcaraz said.

Sinner had reached the final with a dominant 6-4, 6-2 win over 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic, who ended up retiring in the third-place match after dropping the first set to top-ranked American Taylor Fritz.

Djokovic’s performance raised questions about his calendar plans for the remainder of 2025. He reached all four Grand Slam semifinals in 2025, but has not won a major title since the 2023 U.S. Open.
