Hope to see you next year. Merci.” The 38-year-old last week competed in the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – a lucrative exhibition tournament featuring six men’s players. After receiving a bye in the opening round, he lost to eventual champion Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals and couldn’t complete his third-place play-off against Taylor Fritz, retiring after the first set. Prior to playing in the Gulf state, Djokovic competed at the Shanghai Masters in China, where he picked up a leg injury enroute to his semi-final run at the Masters 1000 event. Djokovic has competed in only eight ATP Tour events outside of the four majors this year. He reached the semi-finals at each of the 2025 Grand Slams – the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open – but the last three Slams were the only tournaments he entered between late May and late September.
