The PWHL’s two newest teams now have names and logos. But the players won’t have those brand identities on their jerseys when the Seattle Torrent visit the Vancouver Goldeneyes to help kick off the women’s hockey league’s third season on Friday, Nov. 21.

True to the now-established tradition — and because there wasn’t enough lead time — the expansion teams will be wearing PWHL Seattle and PWHL Vancouver jerseys for their first year of operations.

“When we launched our in our first season, the six teams were all PWHL New York, PWHL Toronto — the individual city name,” said Kanan Bhatt-Shah, the league’s vice president of brand and marketing. “These names, it’s almost a rite of passage in terms of the first season.”

It’s also an intellectual property issue. With all teams owned and operated under the league umbrella, the PWHL has prioritized establishing completely unique brand identities for all its franchises. It takes time to work through that process and establish the necessary trademarks and copyrights.

After aggressively stretching the league’s footprint to the west coast, nature was a prominent theme for both of the new identities.

According to the league’s media release, “Torrent draws inspiration from the powerful waterways that shape and connect Washington’s unique landscape, symbolizing the team’s determination to carve its own path.”

The Goldeneyes name is derived from a bird that is native to the Vancouver region. “Drawing inspiration from its speed, strength, and precision in flight, the Goldeneyes reflect Vancouver’s indomitable and unified spirit as they soar to new heights.”

The new logos and wordmarks expand on both teams’ original color palettes. Some of those new shades have also been worked into the Year 1 city-named jerseys.

While the players have to wait, fan merchandise featuring the new logos is available now through the PWHL website.

PWHL Pre-Season Schedule

Ahead of Season 3, training camps for all eight markets are set to open early next week. Each team will then play two pre-season games against the same opponent between Nov. 13-17.

  • Minnesota Frost @ New York Sirens at Codey Arena in West Orange, NJ
  • Boston Fleet @ Montreal Victoire at Verdun Auditorium in Verdun, Que.
  • Toronto Sceptres @ Ottawa Charge at TD Place in Ottawa, Ont.
  • Seattle Torrent @ Vancouver Goldeneyes at Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, B.C.

Pre-season games are closed to the public.

The regular season will kick off with another banner-raising for the Frost before they host the Sceptres at the newly renamed Grand Casino Arena in Saint Paul (7 p.m. ET), followed by Seattle at Vancouver (10 p.m. ET).

PWHL Regular-Season Schedule

The PWHL is sticking with a 30-game schedule for the 2025-26 season, although the addition of two new teams means that more games in total will be played.

The full regular-season schedule has been released, but venues have not yet been announced for all games. We do know that the Boston Fleet are scheduled to play at least four games at Agganis Arena after nearly filling the 6,150-seat venue at Boston University for two games last March.

More expansion is on the league’s radar, so a second instalment of the wildly successful Takeover Tour is also expected to be announced.

2026 Winter Olympics, World Championships and International Breaks

With many of the league’s players set to skate for their countries at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, the PWHL will be dark from Jan. 29 – Feb. 25, 2026.

When games resume, the playoff push will be on in earnest. Because of the Olympics, there will be no break in April for the women’s world championship in 2025. Instead, the tournament will now be played in November.

The 2026 IIHF women’s world championship is set to take place before the beginning of the PWHL’s Season 4: from Nov. 6-16 in Herning, Denmark.

After going through some off-season camps and training, national team players are on the ice with their teams this week.

Canada and the United States will play two Rivalry Series games this week: Thursday, Nov. 6 in Cleveland (4 p.m. ET) and Saturday, Nov. 8 in Buffalo (3 p.m. ET).

Meanwhile, teams from Czechia, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland have gathered for the next instalment of the 2025 Euro Hockey Tour, which runs from Nov. 5-8.

There will be one more pre-Olympic international break in the PWHL schedule from Dec. 8-15. Canada and the U.S. will play a pair of Rivalry Series games in Edmonton on Dec. 10 and Dec. 13 (both 9 p.m. ET) and the European teams will gather in Finland.
